Gibier b&b was really fantastic. Amazing place with all the attention for the details. Breakfast was delicious, reach portions, authentic meals, fresh and high quality food. Tips of Gibier were also so useful and precious about how to explore the area . House was authentic Japanese style, a lot of space outside and inside. It couldn't be better.

Convenient location close to the train station. Our room was spacious and very clean. The staff was very professional and they helped us with shipping our luggage to next destination, which went smoothly. I recommend this hotel in Nagano.

I had stayed at this hotel previously for short visit in January, and I will stay here again in a heartbeat in the future! For this stay, I made multiple reservations due to family emergency / visiting family member at the nearby hospital, not knowing how long my stay will be. I made 3 consecutive reservations with 3 different room types (by accident). Upon check in at the hotel, a front desk clark adjusted my reservation and allowed me to stay in the same room for the whole entire stay (Very thankful for Ms. Sato at the front desk, who made it happen for me.). Asides from the customer service, all the amenities offer at this hotel is very nice. I love how secure and efficient their coin operated laundry facilities and same day dry cleaning / laundry services.

Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations.

Before arriving, i loved the fact that they were so responsive with our messages. The property even texted us about our arrival time since we got lost and only arrived past 9pm. The property itself is very well maintained. The room was spacious for my 4yo to roam around and play. They also had a lounge where they had hanko, coloured pens, crayons and even water colours. My 4yo loved going there to pass the time. We were also given complimentary yukata to wear around town. It was a first experience wearing one for my family. Definitely go for their breakfast options. They served traditional Japanese breakfast in a private room. And the menu was never a repeat.

The hotel itself was traditional Japanese style, the futons were comfortable and the staff was kind and and helpful. The Onsen is amazing and the sake bar was a very nice touch to complete a great stay

Not sure what some comments are on about. Yes this hotel appears a little dated at first sight but it is incredibly charming. After arrival at Yudanaka station, I went to the tourist information center and the staff helped me to call Hotel Housei and they picked us up in 5 minutes. The indoor and especially, outdoor onsen were amazing! The dinner and breakfast were good. After checkout, the hotel ferried us to the snow monkey park while keeping our luggage at the hotel, which we picked up afterwards and the hotel ferried us back to Yudanaka station. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout, and most knew really good English. This was the best Ryokan experience I ever had and this is my third trip to Japan. Finally, I paid the equivalent of $83 USD for 1 night.

Return to this same resort at Myoko after 2 years. What I like : 1. Near to several ski resorts 2. Provides transport to train station, to ski resorts, to dinner place 3. Onsen 4. Big Japanese room for 2 person (can fit 4) 5. Simple breakfast (new owners setting up). Kind of miss the Japanese type breakfast two year ago. 6. Can do dinner at resort 7. Nice drying and locker room for snow gears. 8. Quiet place for good night rest. 9. Discount lift tickets to Alpen Blick Ski resort that is few minutes away. New owners should run in the resort well this season and improve on the next season.
