Staff were knowledgable about the town. The history of this remarkable town, which is basically a museum unto itself, is physically incorporated into the hotel building - excavated ancient building ruins are preserved in the basement for visitors to see. Rooms are well- furnished and clean, views of the Guadiana are impressive, including the partial view in one room for which the hotel does not claim a 'river view'.

This is a hidden gem in the heart of the Alentejo region. The facilities are first class and the breakfast was lovely, with a good array of local products, many made by Manuela. Manuela and Luisa, and not forgetting Fatima, made me extremely welcome and are lovely people. I could not have asked for a better stay. Will see you again next time I'm over in Alentejo.

We loved our stay. We travelled to Marugo out of season and realised the owner had opened the property just for us. We really valued the warmth and kindness from the owner and the laid back feel of the Quinta. The freshly made breakfast was great and all homemade. The location is remote but this is what you want from a country retreat! You want silence. We also loved meeting all the animals which are all very lovely and friendly. Thank you.
