Boasting garden views, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with balcony, around 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. While the location was a bit out of the way (roughly 25min drive from Takasaki station), it was in a beautiful and quiet spot surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom. The room we had was the biggest out of all the places we stayed in Japan, was clean and comfortable, and had a private garden with covered deck and outdoor bath, which was absolute bliss after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The hospitality shown to us by the staff was exceptional, and we had no problem communicating through limited Japanese/English. They served traditional meals, which were beautifully presented and a delight to eat, having small servings of lots of different things. We made use of the free bicycles and had a great time exploring the area while getting a bit of exercise.

Located in Minakami, 36 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, Super Hydrogen Rich Spa Yado Kanzan provides accommodation with a spa and wellness centre, free private parking, an open-air bath and a garden.... This is the perfect little onsen for a visitor to Japan. It’s tiny enough that you feel as if you’re in someone’s home, but big enough to offer lovely facilities such as the baths and a restaurant. A real flavour of Japanese hospitality

Set in Minakami, 33 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, Minakami Onsen Aratashi Minakami offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant. The hotel was lovely, free welcome drinks and cakes were very nice to have. We didn't have the breakfast or dinner as we wanted to eat outside but they seemed very good as well.

Kusatsu onsen Futabaya offers accommodation in Kusatsu. Free private parking is available on site. Private onsen. Two private onsen rooms. As long as no one was using, just lock the onsen room and enjoy.

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Hotel Coco Grand is set in Takasaki, 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park and 49 km from Kumagaya Rugby Stadium. The hotel very near to Takasaki station and we can walk through the sky bridge from the station direct to hotel. Very safe area and plenty of shopping store also department store, easy to find something to eat even late at night. Hotel so clean and staffs very friendly and helpful. My room is big enough. Would recommend to other friends

Located in Takasaki, Dormy Inn is less than a 10-minute walk from Takasaki Railway Station. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free internet access and a public bath. Great value for money, the public onsen was very nice, accommodating staff, comfy rooms.

Situated 35 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, 19 km from Ishidan-gai Steps and 2.5 km from Lunar Park, GUNPAKUMaebashi provides accommodation set in Sōsha. Phenomenal place for the money we paid (5 people in total, around 4k¥ per person), if we could have, we would have stayed longer. If the price doesn't increase too much over the coming years, there is no reason not to recommend this place. Easy to book, fantastic place (3 separate bedrooms, each with 2 beds), great and big dining and cooking area and even an adjacent living room. If you are in the area, go for it. Heads-up though: we had rented a car (parking space is available, more than enough), so I can't judge public transportation in this case.

Located in Tatebayashi, 22 km from Kumagaya Rugby Stadium, 里沼リゾート Hotel KOMORINU provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. Clean and quiet. The breakfast is exceptional.

Located in Nakanojo, 37 km from Ishidan-gai Steps, Onsen Glamping ShimaBlue provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. Guests can enjoy river views. We enjoyed a relaxing night at ShimaBlue. We are a family of four with two teenage children and whilst it was tight, we enjoyed some relaxing time in nature. The ONSEN on the deck was the highlight. There is not much to do In the small town so this is a great place if you need a rest! The BBQ dinner was amazing (note you do cook for yourself).

Boasting an open-air bath and views of mountain, Yamakikan is a ryokan set in a historic building in Naganohara, 48 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. Beautiful area in fall, amazing history, beautiful room with a great view. The owner spoke English well and was my main contact before and after my stay.
