Perfect location for getting around the island.
Perfect location for getting around the island. Used A1 taxis for airport runs and a couple of trips up to St Anne's. Excellent service. Mostly dined in the Braye Hotel in the evening as it was such good food and excellent service. Very comfortable room (26) with a perfect view. We loved hring the bikes from Cycle and Surf - I am committed to electric bikes. Beaches and scenery are just wonderful. I sent photos to friends and one said it looked like the Maldives - high praise indeed. We picked up a booklet from the Information Point in St Annes which listed a number of walks - very helpful as you can plan shorter walks for mixed weather. We recommend Jack's for morning coffee and The Blonde Hedgehog for afternoon tea or dinner.Guest review byCatherineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Loved it - Alderney has unique quality (having visited Guerney, Jersey and Herm) it's quite unlike the other channel islands - some people have even compared it to Cornwall, but I think again it's quite different. The pace of life, especially in St. Anne, is much more relaxed and the people are among the friendliest I've ever met. The island varies so much and is perfect if you like doing loads of walking and exploring, (especially if you love history). I'd highly recommend taking a local taxi tour to get your bearings. I would say the only down-side of visiting the island is you can sometimes have problems with the airline (as I did on the way back and instead got transfered to a ferry, although to be fair to Aurigny they did plan everything well and arranged for a taxi to take me to Guernsey airport for my transfer and rebooked me on a later flight.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Superb Location. Excellent Staff. Really Good Quality Food. Hotel Quiet Away From The Bar And Restaurant. Alcohol A Tad On The Pricey Side In The Hotel. The (Attached) Divers Inn Pub Well Worth More Than One Visit And You Can Bill Your Drinks Etc To Your Room If You Are A Hotel Resident.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 8.0

An interesting place to visit, with an extraordinary historic and architectural heritage, excellent walks and wild places. Extremely friendly people, and a relaxed way of life. However, because the harbour was closed, we had to stay on the island a good deal longer than we planned, and so did run out of different things to do.Guest review byImogenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

An excellent hotel in all respects: location, customer service (every member of staff was friendly and helpful) and comfort. Our first visit to Alderney and loved it, so hope to return and will definitely stay at Braye Beach again.Guest review byTonbridgeGuyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A beautiful island with such a lot of history from WWII in particular. So friendly and safe, everyone leaves their doors unlocked. It's a peaceful retreat, probably not for those who want a full-on active holiday although there is bike and surf hire. Only a few shops but you can get everything you need. We flew from Southampton which was an experience in itself. A tiny plane with 19 passengers. You can watch the pilots and they just turn around to make announcements! As it flies at a lower altitude, the views are amazing.Guest review byAnonymous
