Situated 3.9 km from NEC Birmingham, Tri-Star Hotel offers 3-star accommodation in Birmingham and has a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar. Nigel was very welcoming and gave us a lot of helpful inside tips on navigating the way to the NEC for our conference. We saved a lot of money on parking because the Tri-star is right next to the bus-stop which takes 2 stops to get to the NEC for the conference. The bus also takes VISA which makes it super-easy to go to the convention centre and back to Tri-Star. They provide a full English breakfast, toast or eggs done in different ways as part of our stay and the beds were very comfortable. They had a nice pool table (which we didn't use unfortunately) and there were plenty of places to sit to lounge around and dining areas for guest. They also had a nice little bar but we were a bit too caught up to use it!

Nice bar Ate in the bar We live fairly locally and know the area well, but due to getting early taxis we decided to stay at the hotel which is based at the end of a large car park. Don't expect to walk into Bickenhill as it is extremely difficult to reach, but there is nothing there except some very nice houses
The charming village was a great place to stay for the course I was on. The digs were within a few hundred yards of the station to Birmingham, which was only 3 stops away and has a free car park. I would not have known, however, when I booked, that it was so readily accessible by train from the centre Birmingham. I think they should advertise that feature. I was busy on a course, and it was bitterly cold out, so I did not visit any tourist sites as I had no free time until the morning I left, when I took a quick and easy trip to the town centre by train to see the famous Museum of Art.......which was closed for a refurb! (Jan 2022) A good excuse to visit again!
The old town has changed beyond recognition. Empty shops except for charity shops and 'The Mall', The quality of goods on sale rather poor unless you shop in one of the Pound Shops, John Lewis or Apple. 30 years has impacted negatively on the old Town, M & S gone, House of Fraser, good manners all gone, litter in the streets, even the coffee shops had dirty tables, litter on the floor, sad. Excuse my sarcasm in the next question
more specifically Xclusive property on 34 White croft Road, Sheldon - It was a pleasant enough suburban area with plenty of restaurants. The property was only fair - clean enough but several things not working, poor lighting in Kitchen and no instructions for tv or oven. A good location for our reason - near the NEC, and adequate. Could use a tidy up outside full of weeks and bramble. We were grateful for off street parking. As it was for business reasons it was okay.
Marston Green Hotel is 3* hotel that met my expectations. I stayed only one night, as next day I had to attend event and after that travelling back to home. The location of the hotel is nearby Birmingham International Station and it was within 5-10 mins by taxi. Overall I'm satisfied and happy with my accommodation for one night. Only I'm not sure if someone would like to book room for longer duration of stay. I find the place reasonable and excellent for short stay, but not any more. Also, I observed that the cleanness of the room wasn't the best expected. I noticed in the shower floor some dirt and dark spots same as the fossettes. They could be cleaned much better. Their free WiFi frankly speaking was better than in London, which pleasantly surprised me and I was able overnight to complete my task for next day event, which was appreciated. Unfortunately I'm not able to provide photos from inside as I deleted the two of them from the shower. I don't have any other photos from the surroundings as I went only for take away food in the evening to buy my dinner from the nearby restaurant and the weather this evening wasn't the best (light drizzle and damp/humidity from the season).
Five mins from the airport which was perfect. The hotel lobby is very welcoming as are the staff. The communal areas are all bright and cheerful with lots of comfy seating . The actual swimming pool could do with a bit of an update but the sauna etc were all lovely as was the changing room. Our room was very quiet even with the proximity to the airport and with the window open all the time. There is building work going on but again we hardly heard any noise . Maybe a bit dated in place's and rubbish toilet paper……..
