The host was very helpful. The property was beuatiful. It is very close to the airport so it was a little bit loud when you steppend outside, but inside and in the bedroom is was peaceful and quiet. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

The apartment was a really great size with lovely high ceilings. Great apartment, great location being really close to the airport, really comfortable bed and super clean, great information left in the apartment. Josianne was really good with communication. I would highly recommend One Lemon Tree.

Every little detail has been taken care of, from the lighting to the layout — it’s clear the hosts take pride in offering a high-quality experience. The location is another major highlight. Luqa is hands-down one of the best spots to stay in Malta. It’s super central, meaning you’re never far from anywhere on the island — and best of all, you’re just 2 minutes from the airport, which makes travel seamless and stress-free. Close to the airport, but the village is quiet and nice. We have late arriving, Frans (host) met us at the airport. After a long flight in the midnight, it's very nice to find cold water, Italian wine, juice... in the refrigerator. Rooms are clean, comfortable, well-equipped kitchen. Service is friendly, host is very helpful. Supermarket and street food nearby is very cheap.

Very welcoming room, spacious, equipped with basic necessities and comfort. The shared kitchen was also well-equipped. We stayed only one night but the area is quiet and very close to the airport, convenient especially for those who have some connections. The owners were always available and kind. I highly recommend

The apartment was beautiful and it was very close to most of the stations and the airport. The host was amazing and kind. The cleaning girls were very good and polite. We really enjoyed the stay would definitely recommend it. Also whan we needed to leave our luggage anywhere the host was kind enough to let us leave it on the premises.

Malta International Airport (MLA) Information

Location and Transport

Malta International Airport sits between the villages of Luqa and Gudja, around 6 miles (10 kilometres) from Valletta, Malta’s capital. A 20-minute taxi ride is the easiest way to get between the airport and the city, with a fare of around EUR 17 to Valletta. Another option is to take the X4 bus to Valletta, which can be accessed right outside the Arrivals area. The bus runs from around 06:00 until 11:00 and passes through the airport every 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the time of day.

Nearby Hotels and Airport Facilities

The closest hotels can be found just over a mile (around 2 kilometres) from the airport, and some provide a shuttle service on request. The airport features a fitness lounge, observation deck and an amusement room with a pool table and air hockey. There’s also a variety of shops and restaurants, including BeerKitchen and Hard Rock Cafe.

    Luqa is a quaint, tranquil village very near the airport. There are regular bus services to Valetta, so it is easy to get around. I enjoyed the low volume of traffic and there were enough stores and street vendors to buy everything I needed.

    It was very convenient for the airport, especially for flights arriving late or early departures. Literally a 5 minute taxi ride from airport. The flip side of this is that air traffic could be heard in the early hours, not constantly but it was noticeable (ear plugs advised). A lot of accommodation, for a reasonable price. Ours was a short visit (two adults) but a longer one, with a small childern or individuals not planning to eat out everynight, the kitchenenette is ideal (sink pots pans, fridge, stove/hob... I think there was a washing machine also). A 10 minute walk brings you to a Lidl store and a fruit and a vegetable shop.

    Gudja is a quiet village even though it is close to the airport. There are some historic buildings in the area but no big shops or restaurants. It is not on the 'tourist trail' so there is not really any amenities for tourists in Gudja.

    Central location with good bus service to airport and other areas. The area itself is quite residential but an easy bus ride away from Valletta, Birgu and other areas where attractions are. Quieter at night time but still has food options to buy yourself or to eat out. The church is astonishing.

    Tarxien is a town with hardly any dining, food shopping facilities, but with good direct bus connections to Valletta and Marsaxlokk. It is not touristic and therefore very quiet, but still has buildings in typical old Maltese style here and there, Highlight is the Tarxien neolithic temple, not much visited it would appear, but excellent. (I had the site virtually for myself). A lot of the original finds are now in the Archaeological Museum in Valletta, with the site providing copies and the context. The hypogeum is also not far away.

    This was a great location for accessing the rest of the island with many bus routes passing from between 4 to 16 minutes walk from the accommodation. The old town has many interesting building off the lanes and alleys but it is easy to get lost.

    Zurrieq is a quiet, traditional village. It has all the basics, e.g. supermarket, green grocers, butchers, pharmacy, 24/7 corner store and even an electrical appliances store which came in handy when I forgot my phone charger. It has a few take aways for pizza, burgers, etc, Kaian is excellent, and one restaurant which we did not try because there was a problem with the kitchen when we were there. It's a great base for exploring Malta as long as you enjoy peace and quiet. Hardly any tourists know it exists, but on the other hand you won't find bars, shops and excitement here. Parking is on street and you can find a space if you drive around 2-3 roads. Be careful as some of the streets are very very narrow and Google maps/Waze may send you that way - sticking to the main roads is faster and safer. I suspect the exception is the week of the village fiesta, which we didn't experience, but from talking to the locals, is a huge event.

    We didn’t really have a lot of time but around the hotel there were some fantastic buildings including opposite two lovely churches which are now bars. Because of the location the hotel is ideal for the airport.
