We were very satisfied with the accommodation. The breakfast was good, we enjoyed mornings and evenings sitting on the balcony and watching the planes while landing /departing. We did not feel disturbed, we could sleep through the whole night very well. The central position of the villa retreat is also an advantage.

The city was nice especially the city center, also the botanical gardens were really amazing. However we came especialy to discover the island Sao Miguel that is absolutely fabulous. For traveling on the island we used rented car - without the car I can´t imagine to be that smooth as it was with car.

my favorite thing was definitely the beautiful surrounding scenery well that and the mud but most people dont like that lol, i thought the owner jose was a very nice man friendly and helpful and treated his guests like on of the family, i would fully recommend staying there any time of the year

We had a great room on the 6th floor (the highest floor) overlooking the marina. The room was always thoroughly cleaned, and all the staff were very friendly and had a good command of English. The staff were all wonderful.

There were too many tourists (in August) Not as many as in Lisbon, but still more than I would have liked. Getting dinner without a reservation was difficult. If driving, the streets are very narrow, mostly one way with parked cars, and quite difficult to negotiate. it's vital to tuck in your side mirror when parking, or it will be hit by a passing car. Walking is also an adventure as many sidewalks are less than one person wide. Restaurant and bar opening days and times seem to be arbitrary. We found one good bar the first night but it was closed every time we tried to go back.

Biggest town on the island.
Biggest town on the island. You will find... - many good restaurants - lovely streets with lots of shops - a huge shopping center close to the main area - a harbour with many shops and a decent variety of activities you can choose from like whale/dolphin watching etc. If you drive by car through Ponta Delgada you should be used to "narrow surroundings". But no worries, everybody with enough driving experience should not have a problem in Ponta Delgada.

It's a very pleasant city, very clean, and has many great cafes and restaurants. It's wonderful to simply stroll through the streets and is a good base for traveling in Sao Miguel and taking excursions on the island. I really liked this city.

From US$40 per nightSky PDL is one of the best hostels I have ever been. I stayed there 3 nights. First of all, the receptionist is very helpful and kind. The hostel is perfectly clean, the common area is beautiful, same as the tarrace with awesome view of the city and the ocean. I loved the breakfest, it's included in the price and it's delicious - bolos levados were soo yummy! I stayed in the dormitory - the room was great, with a lof of shelves, lockers and the bottom beds have a curtain what I really liked :) Highly recommended!

She clearly loves her island and shared so many great tips about places to visit, things to do, and restaurants to try. On top of that, the apartment was fully equipped with everything you need to live comfortably — cooking utensils, Tupperware, oil, salt, spices, tea, coffee, soap, and more. In my opinion, that kind of thoughtful preparation is truly invaluable.
