Came upon Hibiscus House at the last minute after an earlier booking didn’t work out. I could not have been made more welcome or comfortable. Sarah and her wonderfully engaging and attentive staff made for a great stay and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and views of garden, Queen Zee Boutique Hotel is a recently renovated guest house located in Kololi, 1.7 km from Bijilo Beach.

The highlights of my stay were easily the staff and the location! This is not a beach side resort, but it is where you will see the true Gambian hospitality. Great conversations were had at the bar and it was so nice to see some of the local families using the pool and having fun. Th location is an easy walk to restaurants and main streets. Every night I walked to get food and back and never once felt unsafe. The room was big! Too big for just me. The place was clean and tidy and to top it off the resident dogs were so sweet and loved pats!

A really peaceful and comfortable place. A bit of a hidden gem I would say since you cannot find it on google maps. Its a unique blend of apartment, hotel, and bed and breakfast. The place had real proper airconditioning that made sleeping very comfortable though it was extremely humid and hot outside. For someone from the Netherlands, thats quite important. The vibrant colors and well-maintained garden created a serene atmosphere. I also loved the large patio on the first floor that provided a peaceful spot with a beautiful view of tropical trees. Perfect to hangout a bit, maybe read or just chill. I took a morning coffee there overlooking everything. Very nice. Most importantly the staff is really kind and helpful. That added to the positive experience. So, overall, a delightful and recommended retreat for those seeking a calm and welcoming environment within walking distance of everything.

A peaceful place just 10 minutes from a quiet, beautiful beach. The place is run by Renate who is great to talk to and can advise you about onward travels as well as local life. The huts are clean and have a private bathroom, there is plenty of space to sit outside. Best of all is the breakfast in the morning with fruit, oats, bread, eggs and even cheese . I highly recommend this place.

Boasting a sun terrace with a swimming pool, as well as a fitness centre, B & B Villa Calliandra is situated in Bijilo.

We were originally looking for accommodation on the beach, but not finding anything reasonably priced and to our liking, we moved our search slightly inland. And we are glad we did! The communication prior to arrival and the warm and friendly welcome from the host and her staff make Villa Calliandra an absolute winner. The family enjoyed lazy afternoons by the pool and appreciated the breakfast options. In the evening, we were able to try the traditional tea with the house manager. Nearby are the monkey park and the Bijilo Beach which the kids really enjoyed.

I love everything. The owner is really kind, the place is calm and there is a nice garden around. Also there is a traditional oven also. Everything in the apartment is so clean. For me is the best choice in Gambia.
