They also offer scooter rentals and a laundry service, which is very convenient. The staff was excellent, and I want to give a special mention to Mr. Rahman, who was incredibly kind. Highly recommended!

At the guest house, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

Walking distance to everything, on the main road but still quiet, love the quiet morning view from the balcony. They have a restaurant downstairs, good and affordable food. The best for the price.

This beachfront property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The bed and breakfast provides quiet street views, an outdoor fireplace and a 24-hour front desk. Very beautiful scenery around the area. Other than that, very helpful staff! Thankyou ms Tio for your good service. Ms Tio also manage to find us a driver to tour around samosir!

Dong who runs the place will make sure you have a very memorable stay. The service and hospitality of everyone connected to Toba Boi is exceptional. I had such a fantastic stay here.

Everything was excellent! Best thing about this hotel are the views. Once you open the door of your room, you’re greeted by an impressive view of Lake Toba. It appears to be a new hotel, so the room and furnishings were new and clean. Location was fantastic as well. The hotel is right next to the water, so the ferry from Parapat can drop you off right at the hotel pier and pick you up from the same place. There are great restaurants nearby. I strongly recommend Coffee 2 Go across the street for breakfast and coffee, and Rosalie’s Beer Garden and Restaurant a 5-min walk away for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and helpful, though not all of them speak English.

I liked everything. The first of many positives was the owner coming to pick me up at the dock. He came back because I had a big suitcase. After spending one night at Juma Cottages, I extended my booking for one more week. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Lake Toba. I strongly recommend Juma to anyone.

The hostess speaks excellent English and was very helpful. She assisted me in arranging for a motorcycle tour of Lake Toba, given that there isn't any public transport. She also offers a value-for-money breakfast set with excellent nasi goreng.

Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, luggage storage space and room service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Staff on-site can arrange a shuttle service. Nice rooms with a view of the lake, great food at the restaurant for reasonable prices, and kayaks available for rent right off the property!
