We had a great experience in Daraselia's house. This place is so unique with its history and architecture. If you want to feel the authentic Megrelian home you need to visit this place. They have exeptional four sided fireplace, hundred-year-old table and chairs from their grandparents. Food was amazing as well. But the true treasure were the people themselves. I highly recccomend this place.

I am a solo female traveler and I felt so comfortable and relaxed in Shorena’s home that I stayed for one week. Shorena and her husband were helpful and generous despite the lack of a common language between us. I was welcomed and treated to some Megrelian specialities. My room was spacious for one person. The street is lovely and quiet, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of being in such a neighborhood. There are many fine examples of Soviet era mosaics and public art works in a wide variety of styles in the surrounding area, many of which are easily accessible by public transport. Some are in better condition than others. Shorena also helped to organize a reasonably priced driver for a longer day trip to Menji and Sujuna. Zugdidi is well worth spending time in if you are interested in more than just the palace and botanical garden.
