Vamos in the western part of Crete feels more authentic than the eastern part were we stayed previously. There are many restaurant's within a short stroll from the villa serving authentic Cretan food. Also beaches are very easy assessable within a 15 to 20 minute drive. Nestled in the countryside yet accessible to the village and beach by car with amazing views across the village to the hills and sea beyond.
