The village nearby has been upgraded recently and now represents some of the best of the midlands of Ireland. The canal bridle path is really lovely for walking or cycling. The renovation of the old miller's house (-subsequently a Garda (police) station) was absolutely outstanding. The bed was very comfortable. Lovely bedroom. Breakfast was good. Susan was very welcoming. House is very close to the village and I was able to get an evening meal in local pub. About 7 minutes walk from the house is a very good restaurant/pub called The Rustic Inn. I had a very good 3 course dinner there - their wine list is very good considering that its a small rural village.
