The unit is way more than you expect. The photos on booking.com don’t do it justice. It is super clean and every detail is considered. It has everything from a fully functional kitchen, dining room, living area, bedroom and bathroom. It even has a huge balcony that over looks a wonderful lush garden. Right behind is more forest we could walk through. We also got to see them in the construction faze of creating a huge natural pool, only a couple minutes walk from the property. Our hosts went above and beyond to look after us. Taking us on a special tour of all the things we wanted to see. An incredible waterfall, mine, a private gem museum and gem cutting. Ratnapura has so much to offer. This home is a very good price for what you get. Highly highly recommend a stay here 😊

Gem Fields Rest Hotel has got to be the most convenient hotel for anyone passing through or staying in Rathnapura. Whether you are travelling by car or public transport the hotel works well being just a short walk from the town centre. At the same time it is far enough away from the hubbub to feel calm, almost rural. Bhanu is a fabulous host who goes out of his way to ensure his guests enjoy their stay. Brilliant breakfasts which can be provided to personal taste are served on the lovely balcony overlooking the garden. The staff and the host were very friendly and easy going. We appreciates to stay in a local, down-to-earth place, where we could learn a lot about the history of the place and engage with the local community. We chose the place as it offered tours to sapphire mines, and it met oyr expextations!

I arrived in the morning before my room was ready and before contacting the owner in the hope that I would be able to have a tour of a gem mine and market and buy some gems with an expert! I was very lucky and the owner helped me with the request and I had the most incredible time. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the mountains. They were very accommodating and I had a great dinner there. Overall had a fantastic experience staying here. The next time I come I will come back to stay here as they also offer a gem-cutting course and the staff were incredible!

OK, so this was certainly the most expensive accommodation of our trip but wow! The Kurunduketiya Private Rainforest Luxury Resort is a place like no other: embedded in the rainforest and a tough trek away from the nearest paved road the building is simply extraordinary. Raised on stilts with two huge bedrooms at either side enclosed on three sides by glass walls with an 'open air' living area in the middle this has got to be one of the most unusual holiday locations ever. Our group of four was looked after by the two wonderful managers who not only cooked and served the most delicious food morning and evening but heaved our heavy baggage from car to villa over challenging terrain, gave us insights into the amazing environment and its wild residents and even took us on a rain forest hike. The aquarium-like bedrooms (only you are inside looking out) are amazing. Uninterrupted views of the forest on three sides with the best shower ever - no curtains, no shutters just another huge window looking out on to forest and a tumbling stream! Below the building is a natural 'swimming pool' fed by spring water.

Cozy cabin beside the river. We stayed in the most crowded time in the year for the Adan’s Peak pilgrimage and and couldn’t hear a single noise from the cabin terrace, only the water flowing. The staff is warm and very friendly. Super
