In this spacious house we found after four weeks Albania by bicycle for the first time everything we needed for cooking. No creative solutions necessary in this house. The host is lovely and happy to meet you. Dining and breakfast we did in the garden. It was worth every penny.

The lady who takes care of the property is incredibly kind and helpful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was very reasonably priced. She's an excellent cook—we ordered dinner from her small restaurant, and everything was delicious. She also prepared sandwiches and tea for our breakfast, which was a lovely touch. Overall, a truly pleasant and homey experience!

This is the place to stay if you want a real feel for the warmth & charm of Shkodra & its people instead of a cold impersonal hotel. The owners & staff make you feel like part of their family and give wonderful support in every need of your visit. They speak very good English and their breakfast & coffee are excellent and will accommodate any request if possible. We stayed at 3 hotels in Shkoder and this one was our favorite for its peaceful and gracious atmosphere. I recommend it

I always look the the reviews when looking at where to stay, and am never exactly sure what to think about a newish hotel that has a really high rating. But The Roots more than lived up the rating that they have. I loved everything about my stay. Originally I booked for 2 nights, but enjoyed Shkoder so much that I extended for another night, and didn’t think twice about staying put at The Roots. When first dropped off in the street were the hotel is located it felt a bit quite and out of the way, but I soon discovered that it is only a 3 minute stroll to the pedonale which actually makes it super central and yet away from noise and traffic. The room was excellent. All of the hotel was located on the 1 floor. As the hotel is quite recent, all of the fixtures and furniture were fresh and clean. The room was quite spacious with more than enough room to move around the bed and baggage with ease. The bed was delightfully comfortable; the perfect mix of support with softness. There was a small terrace/ balcony off each room which I didn’t utilize as it was quite cold, but can imagine it would be a nice place to sit in warmer weather and enjoy a quiet drink. The staff were super helpful; Badr was very friendly and gave excellent advice and help in getting me on a day trip to Koman Lake and Shala River (tip- if you go to either of these places and it is cool in Shkoder, it will be really cold on the river- bring warm clothes for the boat!), as well as helping with taxis, local knowledge and plans for further travel. I loved Shkoder and I hope to return someday. And if I do it will be a no-brainer that I will book a room at The Roots.

I think best hostel i have been to. On the first floor is beautiful and cheap bar, and on the second floor is hostel, big and nice place with a nice view. Really kind family that is running the place.

    Very spacious, green and beautiful lake views. The tree house was very clean and matched our expectations. The restaurant is good and the staff is very friendly. We went on a one day trip to Shala River and everything worked very well.

    The location was perfect with the private beach. We could enjoy few amazing sunset during our stay. The restaurant inside the camping is nice and you can order at each moment of the day. In general it was an amazing experience.

    The location is great! Stunning view and very nice lake to chill and relax. The staff is very nice. Only thing is that me and my girlfriend got sick from the breakfast we had this morning. We had the English breakfast with Albanian taste. Both of us have a stomach flu and are sick in our bed. Would not recommend eating this breakfast.
