The location was ideal, conveniently close to the ferry dock. Can't say enough about Anouk and Kevin's hospitality. Sabalo Lodge is off the beaten path but this is what we were looking for. After spending several days in La Fortuna and then Monteverde, our arrival to Sabalo Lodge felt like we had finally arrived to the Costa Rica we had come to experience. The food Kevin prepared for us was out of this world. No exaggeration! The large cabin we stayed in was very nice and spacious, beds very comfortable and a great porch to sit and relax or swing in the hammock. The grounds are very beautiful and we enjoyed the natural swimming pool each day we were there. Kevin arranged and took care of all the booking for our tours which were close by and didn't involve a whole lot of extra travel time in between. Free access to the kayaks was a bonus!! LOTS to explore close by. My son who is 9 had a fantastic time!

Wow... Staying at La Muñequita Lodge is so much more than just somewhere to sleep. It´s like entering a new, exciting, relaxing, friendly world - with a lot of animals, exotic trees and flowers. The hosts are superfriendly and helpful. The house was spectacular. Basic in one way, but exclusive in another. One detail is that I really loved the wooden floor. So soft for your bare feet. Delicious breakfast and dinner. It was very interesting to hear the hosts history of how they ended up here, and take part of their future plans for their small business. We could safely park our rental car here while we spent three days in Drake Bay. It felt much better than park it by the harbour. The hosts really have big hearts and you leave with a better belief for the humanity. I can strongly recommend to stay here. I will be jealous of everyone of you that will.

This hostel was a very good one. I think they have made some improvements in the last couple of years. There was an AC in my room and no bugs or mosquitos at all inside. The bed was comfortable and the room was very big. I think the value of the room and quality was perfectly in balance. The hammock outside was my favourite. I could see parrots, toucans, iguanas and capouchin monkeys straight from the comfort of my hammock. Awesome! And also: everyone in the staff were very helpful. They even held my luggage during my trip to Corcovado. Muchas gracias! I would definitely stay again.

staff were AMAZING here. super friendly, great service and up for a great chat. served a lovely welcome fruit spread. make sure to try the lemonade!!! great coordination with the boat staff so you can get a pickup/dropoff (we walked). and also ensured we had a place on the boat for our departure time. drake bay is really small so it's easy to get to everything within 10 mins walk
