I had an incredible time in the hostel of Dipankar, the manager. He will be able to help you organize your trip to North East India (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunashal Pradesh...). He understands exactly the experiences you have come for, taking into account your time and budget limitations. He and his wife are very caring and can prepare food for you at a reasonable price. The backpacker atmosphere is very nice. I felt at home. The hostel is a bit far from the city centre but it is located near the highway, which makes it easy to get in and out of Guwahati.
