In 19 days in Sri Lanka, we have changed 11 hotels and we can say with confidence that this is one of the best (we considered rooms in the price range up to $20 per night)! The owner, Mr. Clive, is an incredibly friendly and outgoing person. The outside area is very well maintained and the room is clean and comfortable. Mr. Clive offered us a very nice dinner at a great price. The owner also helped to adjust our route and gave us helpful directions for our future travels. Once again, we want to thank Mr. Clive for his hospitality! You will be in our heart forever. Sincerely, Mr. Roman and Mrs. Victoria. Traveler's note: We got to the hotel from Udawalawa by busses, transferring to Pelmadulla. The bus picked us up in front of the Udawalawa park entrance (just stop the bus where you are standing. You will be picked up) and dropped us off near the hotel. Time was about an hour and a half, price was about 1500 rupees per person for both buses. A grocery store near the hotel. Of attractions - a wonderful hiking trail from Ohiya overlooking the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka - Bambarakanda Falls. The trail is a 20 km descent with a difference in elevation of 1400 meters (the top point - Ohiya). If you want to walk it, I recommend to stay overnight at The Misty mountain guest house, drive to Ohiya in the morning (about an hour by bus and train), return to the hotel and spend the night there.

Mahamed and Fatima are the most wonderful hosts, and there is no doubt they enjoy having guests, and want their guests to be as comfortable as possible. They made our stay truly memorable, and I wish we had time to stay longer. I will for sure be back, this place comes highly recommended from me! Surroundings are gorgeous, hiking on every corner, it's quiet and calm, and you will eat like a queen with Fatima's food (she should have a restaurant). I haven't eaten that well in all of Sri Lanka, and it's been my most pleasant stay. If you are into nature, mental relaxation, great food, and slowing down a bit, do make sure to book at least two/three nights with them, and just enjoy!

We are extremely happy to have spent two days at the Capoe house. It was better and more beautiful than we had expected. We were picked up by the Ranger and got a little private Safari tour as he’s an expert of the local animals. Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful, and we receive the warm welcome with a High Tea. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful few as well as a big and clean bathroom. As it was Valentine’s Day, they had decorated the bed with flowers and given us a complementary heart shaped cake. There was definitely good and enough food and drinks and outdoors activity, you can for example get a private trip to the near waterfall without extra costs. There was also a yoga mat available and room service at all times.

We loved our stay at Leisure Mount View. We booked 3 nights but stayed 4 as there was so much to do in the area and the hotel was fabulous. THE FOOD: We ate 3 dinners and 4 breakfasts at the hotel. The buffet dinner was delicious and offered more choice than anywhere else we've been in Sri Lanka. We also ordered from the menu one evening and the chicken biriyani was our favourite! The breakfast buffet was huge. On order were hoppers, toast with butter and jam, dahl, various sweet cakes, coconut string hoppers, as well as a lovely selection of fruit, fresh juices and tea/coffee. We were also offered eggs cooked however we liked. THE VIEW: Our big bedroom overlooked the incredible view of tea plantation fields and mountains. Each morning we opened the curtains and watched the sunrise. Beautiful. THE HOSPITALITY: Hashan and his team couldn't have done more for us. A printed folder, which included various local activities, including hikes, attractions (e.g Lipton Seat), massages, and a cooking class, was available at the reception to help plan our itinerary. We did the cooking class with Hashan's aunty and we loved it. We also enjoyed our chats with Hashan who shared lots of information about Sri Lankan life, culture and food. We were made to feel like we were more like old friends and not hotel guests.

staying at Forest Cyniciam homestay is like staying at your auntie's home. the location at 5 mins walking from the train station is perfect and the terrace offers a nice view on the forest and the sunrise, you’ll probably observe monkeys too! if you stay there, you have to have the dinner at the home, Mutu is an excellent cooker! we have eaten our best rice and curry (and god knows we have eaten a certain number here in Sri Lanka!). the room is super clean and feel holy, it’s way less moist than other place in Sri Lanka. finally it’s the best place to go to Horton plains, it’s less than half an hour by tuktuk and it’s affordable.

The staff are wonderful. I must mention Bushbar who was so accommodating, kind and helpful. We had a delicious takeaway breakfast on checkout as we had an early train back to Colombo. The room was very comfortable, breakfast and dinner very good. Location is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute tuk tuk drive from the main street of Haputale which we loved. Great place to stay with plenty of walking through the tea plantations and small villages. Liptons Seat is only an hour tuk tuk ride away - the full day walk back to The Nest is beautiful. Highly recommend if staying in Haputale.

    Beautiful peaceful location. A perfect place to refresh and reset away from the busier, more touristic areas. The owners are so kind and sweet, you will truly feel at home here. Also very delicious food ! And all at a very reasonable price. If you like to hike, you can summit Wangedikanda in a 5 hour round-trip (for FREE) Cannot recommend enough. Amazing !
