This was one of our highlights on our trip in Sri Lanka! The hideaway is beautiful and totally new! The big room is comfortable and very clean, located right next to a nice river. one can hear the sound of the river and birds/ animals in the night (great jungle feeling!) the host was soooo incredibly nice and welcoming and helped us out with our problems. Breakfast is delicious and in the morning you have a great view into the nature. This really was one of our best stays during our roundtrip and I would definitely stay here again! They also offer tours with a great tour guide into the Jungle (highly recommend!!)

Rainforest Nest was hands down the highlight of our entire trip! The accommodation is spotlessly clean and has the most stunning view over the surrounding rice fields. On top of that, it’s just a few minutes away from the entrance to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, which made it the perfect base for exploring the area. What really made our stay special, though, were the hosts, Saman and Umesha. They are such warm and welcoming people that we instantly felt at home. Umesha spoiled us every day with the most delicious breakfasts and dinners, all cooked with so much love. Her food was absolutely incredible, and we couldn’t wait to see what she’d prepare next! We also went on a rainforest tour with Saman, and it was unforgettable. He knows so much about the plants and animals in the forest and has an incredible eye for spotting even the tiniest creatures. He went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t miss anything—he even spent the entire next day searching for a snake we didn’t manage to see on the tour and showed it to us the morning we left. That kind of dedication and passion is so rare, and it made the whole experience even more special. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. If you’re visiting Sinharaja, you absolutely have to stay here and take a tour with Saman. We can’t wait to come back someday!

Amazing and peaceful place in the middle of Rain Forest. Clean room and delicious meal from Vini's wife. Vini is very friendly and kind man. He arrange for us 7 hours tour to the viewpoint of Sinharaja Rain Forest and many waterfalls. 100% recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at Sinharaja Rest very much. Maps may not for some reasons show the exact directions as there is a newer road uphill that one should take to reach the place. Relying on map directions we ended knocking on the neighbours' door but they kindly showed us the right direction : ) The place is an excellent starting point for a rainforest tour. The host organized a six hour rainforest tour for us and also took us to the bus station when we left, so we were very well looked after. The rainforest tour was awesome! We saw lots of birds, some monkeys and some snakes and our guide was very knowledgeable. Special care should be taken to keep leeches off as they are hungry and crawl faster than you might imagine. We were provided leech socks by the host that kept most of them away, but I still donated some blood to a couple of leeches. It may be a good idea to take some adhesive bandages with you to stop the bleeding. Sinharaja Rest is located at the edge of the village, so one can sit on the terrace and absorb the village sounds and listen to birds singing. We had a wonderful time at Sinharaja Forest Lodge! The room was very comfortable and clean, with a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxing. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. The lodge is beautifully surrounded by tea plantations, and the morning views are simply stunning. A perfect place for nature lovers. Highly recommended!

I'm a wildlife Photographer and I've been seeing Hemal as guide for several years now. He recently renovated the place as a guest house and it is fantastic. The place: The room was clean, AC and facilities are brand new and the view is exceptional! It is located a beautiful 10 minute walk from the park entrance, surrounded by green. And is directly next to the path that you would take for a night tour, which is a must in Sinharaja (And nobody is allowed to enter the Park at night). Hemal's wife is cooking and I doubt any of the luxury hotels near by will match the love and effort she put in every single meal. As it is common for Sri Lankan hospitality, they will always ask you if anything is missing or you have any special wishes and will drive to the nearest shop to buy it, without asking. The guide (Which is much more important in Sinharaja!): Hemal is known within the entire community as one who spots the most animals and knows so much about them. While all guides need to absolve basic training to become a guide, you can tell that he is truly passionate about the nature and he will tell you the English, Latin and partly the German names for most of the animals that we saw. You can also tell that he deeply respects the animals and the eco system and puts safety of you and the animals above anything. He grew up right in that village and he's is in the forest every day even on his days off so he always knows all the best spots!
