Cheap hotels in Lalitpur

After being kept awake by barking dogs over 10 sleepless nights in Kathmandu’s Thamel zone, I decided to go upmarket for 5 days in a location away from the noise and pollution. Purna’s photos make it look like a typical Indian pseudo palace hotel, but the hotel is in reality more elegant and refined. The owner’s main business is renovating historic Nepali temples in the traditional style, and the hotel showcases the woodwork the traditional Newari style, including its own small museum of carved artefacts. The carpentry throughout varies from very fine to rather rough and ready, but it feels authentic to the vernacular of ancient Nepal. The hotel is spread across several buildings at different levels surrounding garden enclosures, and includes a swimming pool. The view looks over Kathmandu city from a high vantage point. It’s on the outskirts of the built-up region of Kathmandu and Patan, and mostly free of traffic and barking dogs. The room was nicely appointed. The commodious breakfast plate included both a continental array – juice, coffee, fruit salad, porridge with honey, plus toast, butter & jam & a combined full English breakfast - omelette, sausages, baked beans, fried tomato & salad. The coffee is fine. The lunch/supper options have very reasonable prices. The service was exemplary – kind and courteous! Worth visiting: To escape the hubbub, Godawari Botanical Gardens is definitely worth a visit - feels very natural with families dancing on the lawns to Nepalese folk music and children splashing in the streams. 20min taxi drive – recommend the Pathao app to book cars or bikes at a cheaper rate. Sirupate Trout Farm Restaurant, 15mins drive. The trout is fresh straight from the farm water troughs beside the restaurant – Cost 1800NR per kg ($13 or £10). 1/2kg was big enough for 2. Don't confuse venue with 'Village Trout Farm' situated 200m before Sirupate's location.

Friendly, helpful, attentive, and always available to answer questions and provide information. Great location near the city center with various shops nearby. All the facilities are very comfortable, and the hotel photos accurately reflect reality. The food and breakfasts are plentiful and good. I’ll definetly come back soon. The hotel is well located in Thamel, close to the main street for shopping your stuff for the EBC trekking. The staff were really kind and helpful, specially Ganga, who helped me with some guidance for my stay in Kathmandu. I could leave my bag for free when I went to the EBC. Breakfast was good enough, the room is spacious, clean and the shower was really good. I really like this hotel and will return again if I had the opportunity to come back in Nepal.

What a lovely, friendly, quiet hotel, everything was fantastic, the food (you must try the Thali) breakfast delicious and plentiful, the staff always with a smile, and my room was so comfortable, piping hot shower, beautiful bathroom, comfy bed and pillows, tea coffee and kettle, thick bathrobe and slippers, nothing forgotten, and my room had a view of the Swoyambhu Temple which is a must visit, it's stunning. I easily arranged my tours with Dolakh the owner directly, after wasting my time before scrolling online, the shared helicopter tour to Mount Everest was simply incredible, a once in a lifetime adventure, and it turned out to be much cheaper than the other people on the trip had paid, the day tour to the sunrise at Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, Buddha stupa and Pashupatinath Temple, was fantastic, 2 Unesco World Heritage sites in 1 day. All of my onward domestic flights booked for me too, at a fraction of the cost of trying to do it myself, a speedy, easy service, very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend you choose this hotel and tour company (Mountain Mart).

Nice clean Hotel in Thamel with all the Trekkers Shops, Money Changers and Restaurants around. The Hotel pick-up as well the staff is great.👍😍We had a great warm welcome at the Reception from Lady Laxmi which showed us also the room. The Owner or Manager was also very helpful with organizing trips or information. Food we also can recommend. At the Looby or the Roof Top Restaurant...the male staff was amazing friendly and served us like kings..thanks to ALL of them. Wifi & TV is also working...we stayed before EBC TREK and afterwards each time 4nights and we come back again in September 2024👍😍..René and Liz at IG: @renepeter57

Had a great time with crew member of Rest Up . Manager Gopi he is very kind and helpful . We organize EBC Trek with Gopi and found the best price and had a very great time . Everything was perfect as per the commitment . The guide , tea house and food were good . I highly recommend this hostel and gopi for stay in Kathmandu and travel, trek arrangement.

The environment and facilities are good, the staff is responsible, and the room type is upgraded for free. There are beautiful postcards at the breakfast place！

Extremely friendly staff. Large room and very soft and comfortable bed. Excellent to rest after the E.B.C. Super large bathroom, hot shower. Exceeded my expectations in many ways, highly recommended. I will be back later in the year for sure!
