Best stay on the Camino Portugués. Smiling Places is exactly that — a genuinely welcoming, peaceful stop that feels like a little haven. The host is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and helpful. You can tell the place was built and run with care. Everything is super clean, comfortable, and just works — from the quiet rooms to the little details. There’s even a small garden and a pool, which was perfect after a long day walking. Breakfast was great too — simple, tasty, and enough. Out of all the places I stayed along the Camino, this was the one I’d come back to without thinking twice. Highly recommend.

Everything was new — very clean, comfy, and relaxing. Was able to do laundry and check in later and feel relaxed immediately. Great family, good people — very generous and kind, eager to talk about the Camino and share about Portugal. Made me feel welcome and part of the family for the evening!

This lovely, restored house from the 1950s was an absolute gem! The location is perfect, just minutes from easy transport to the center of Porto and a short, leisurely walk to the beach. One of my favorite moments was walking along the sand at sunset, watching the sky turn golden over the ocean, absolutely breathtaking. Staying here was also a gateway to incredible gourmet experiences. From the delicious breakfast served each morning to the amazing restaurants just around the corner, every meal felt like a treat. I also rented one of their smooth and comfortable bicycles and followed the coastal cycle lanes to a charming fishing village, where I had some of the freshest, most delicious seafood. The hosts were incredibly friendly and full of great local recommendations, making sure everything was comfortable and welcoming. It was an unforgettable stay, I’ll definitely be back!

We were walking the Camino and it was perfect. Beautiful,clean and so well thought out. Lovely powerful shower. All facilities were there. So generous to have free fresh cake, coffee, tea, fruit and a glass of port waiting

Maravilhoso! It was so lovely!! We had everything we needed: very comfortable bed, great coffee, microwave, towels, extra blankets, fridge saved us. It’s close to the metro, Lidl 5minutes. And bathroom is one of the most beautiful (and clean) I have ever seen!
