Our stay at Casa Az-Zagal Hotel was absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is like a step back in time, with each room styled uniquely to reflect the charm of a traditional Portuguese home. It’s full of character but still manages to be incredibly comfortable and inviting. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Gonçalo, the General Manager. He showed us around and shared the hotel’s history, which added so much depth to our stay. He was friendly, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place, which really set the tone for the entire experience. The hotel’s atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, and the pool area, though small, is beautifully designed - a perfect spot to relax and take in the serene surroundings. But let’s talk about the food - because it was the absolute highlight of our stay. Trust me, as someone who’s a serious foodie and has eaten at countless restaurants, this is not a compliment I give lightly: it was the best food I’ve ever had. The head chef is not just talented but also incredibly warm and passionate. Each dish was a masterpiece, rooted in traditional Portuguese flavors, and the chef took the time to explain the story behind each one. We even had a great chat and discovered he’s a Manchester fan (great taste!) Every bite was an experience, and the meals are something we’ll be dreaming about for years to come. Casa Az-Zagal is a truly special place. From the welcoming staff to the peaceful setting and the unforgettable food, it’s a stay we’ll always remember. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both authentic and luxurious, this is it - you won’t regret it!

I was crying this morning when we left. it is the most beautiful and peaceful place. everything is made respecting nature, animals, the environment. Valter, the owner is just a wonderful man. kind, helpful, explaining his project, reserving restaurants, having time to chat and show you his happy animals. the room was wonderful, not a sound at night, beautiful toiletries, a pool to die for.. and the breakfast is all homemade, with the eggs from the farm, and wonderful Margarida preparing it with love. we will be back, it was too short!!! obrigada Valter! um abraço enorme! Fabalous place -5⭐️ in every way. Luxurious feel to the room with every requirement met and it was immaculalate. We had the junior suite overlooking the pool with the balcony which was a delight. Lovely pool with comfortable sun beds to relax. A tasty fresh breakfast delivered to our room by the excellent staff who were most friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Everything was OK, although the restaurant was closed for holidays, which was a pity. Good location by the center of the village and very easy parking, close to the facilities. I was with friends and we went on foot for breakfast to a nearby café "Café Senado" which was also OK and a nice one in fact.
