This place is amazing. A gorgeous setting next to the beach. The room is very spacious and clean (with daily cleaning). The included breakfast was delicious and the lunch and dinner options in the restaurant were great too. Last but not least: all the staff is super friendly and helpful. I immediately knew from the photos that I wanted to stay here. This was my third stop on a two week solo trip in the south of Zanzibar The morning coffee on the private terrace, the fresh and clean pool, the comfortable sunbeds and the beautiful beach. Everything is so nice and the Mango House is very quiet and intimate with only nine guest rooms creating a close atmosphere. Note that if you like a more quiet place, Jambiani or Paje are typical tourist spots and might not be for you. I travelled off season but there are still alot of people around, and it can be a bit noisy in the mornings/nights, if you care about that. The breakfast is really good with a good menu to choose from. The dinner menu is also nice. The dinner was a little hit and miss, but that was my experience all over Zanzibar. One dish youbreally like can be "just ok" the next day. The chicken curry was my favorite. Beth and Dullah har created a very beautiful little oasis of good energy, and if you feel drawn to this place it is probably a sign that you should pay them a visit. They (Beth, Dullad and the rest of the staff) are super warm, friendly and inclusive and they are all very attentive to your needs without ever being pushy. I had several nice and interesting conversations with Beth during my six nights and Mango House. I was unlucky enough to get sick on my last day (when I was supposed to leave) and ended up with a short hospital stay. Being alone, sick and so far away from home felt a little scary but Beth and Dullah took great care of me and made sure I got to the hospital and that I had a bed and safe people around me when I got back as I wasn't able to leave that day even if my stay was actually over. Beth has even been checking up on me for days after I left to make sure I felt better and got home safely. I really recommend this to anyone thinking about visiting Zanzibar.

What really sets this place apart is the incredibly kind and attentive staff — everyone we met was warm, helpful, and genuinely caring. The manager was especially thoughtful and engaged, making sure everything ran smoothly and that guests felt truly looked after. The hotel also has a fantastic beachside bar and restaurant just a short stroll away — perfect for enjoying a meal or drink with a view of the ocean and your feet in the sand. The food was absolutely delicious — the tuna tartare, in particular, was unforgettable!

We had such a great stay at Kobe House. Our rooms were great (apartment and balcony room) and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I had a good amount of hanging space in the apartment and the fridge was awesome. The breakfast does vary a bit which was nice and you can have leftovers in the afternoon by the pool as a little snack. Ibrahim always brought us something, also a coconut once. Without asking I was given a bigger pillow and Maryam even got up our last morning at 3am and saw us off. Also thanks again to Kevin for sorting out a light problem in my room without me having to move. We felt well looked after. I'd definitely stay at Kobe house again.

The location was perfect. We were just a few steps away form the Jambiani beach. We had several restaurants around, on the beach and in the village. We came with a rental car and could easily park. I enjoyed the proximity with local life, far from the big beach resorts. Amka House offers a great comfort with a local life feeling. I thank deeply the manager for her good advice about visits and nice discussion about local life. Also the breakfast was great with a plate of local fresh fruits, a fresh fruit juice, pancakes and omelet.
