Nestled between the jungle and the sea, right by the gorgeous Playa Bluff (not ideal for swimming but stunning nonetheless), the setting is pure paradise. With only 10 rooms, the hotel offers a peaceful, intimate vibe. Our spacious room featured a large, comfortable bed and a private balcony — waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys and birds was unforgettable. The swimming pool was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The service was excellent — the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. The food was delicious, making it tempting to dine in often. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Bocas Town, so I’d recommend having a taxi contact handy. One of our highlights was renting ATVs to explore the island — an amazing way to see more of the area (including the incredible beach “La piscina”) All in all, a 10/10 experience. If you’re looking for tranquility, nature, and a bit of luxury, this place is a hidden gem.

Akwaba lodge is located at the middle of Isla Solarte about a 10 minute boat ride ($10/person) from Bocas del Toro. It is on a hill overlooking the water and Isla Bastimentos Breakfast is included in your stay. Lunch dinner and beverages are available at a very reasonable price. The lodge is an eco style lodge surrounded by jungle. Though there are no hiking trails through the jungle you are serenaded by the sounds of birds. Kayaks, SUP and snorkeling equipment is available for your use. Your host and their children are wonderful and will do anything to make your stay a pleasant and wonderful experience. Things to know, the lodge is off the grid with good WiFi and does not have AC, but we were comfortable with our open windows and ceiling fan. The lodge accepts credit cards, but tours and water taxis are cash only so bring US dollars. Side trips to Red Frog Beach and Green Acres Chocolate are a must. Pack insect repellent and anti-itch cream.

This was the most perfect hotel I’ve ever stayed at- it was like he stayed in each suite to make sure everything was comfortable. Benoit was an amazing host. He was very calm and created a relaxing environment. The decor was gorgeous and tastefully executed. Food was fantastic which was prepared by him and his wife - they make a great duo. Benoit offers all the services and tours you need, without being pushy. This place could not be any cleaner - 10s all around!

Location is great and if you are arriving by boat (as we were coming from meetings in Almirante) it has its own jetty so no need to drag bags from the ferry stop. Relaxed atmosphere and nice views from the restaurant/bar area,.~ A short taxi ride to Bocas airport. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Couples love the location - rated 9.5 for two-person trips. Hostal Hansi is very well situated in Bocas' center, 30 m to water taxis, a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around, 100 m to buses to the beaches. Very practical. There's a new owner since 8 months who strives to improve all the equipments. I had a double deluxe room, good size with new ventilator on the ceiling and air condition, a small terrace with table and 2 chairs, some coat hangers, nightstand. The large double bed is comfortable, also the pillows. The bathroom has a good size with hot shower and shelves. The common kitchen has 2 sinks and 2 gas stoves, so we can be cooking all together at the same time. The fridge is very clean. There is inside a place with a number corresponding to your room. There are 2 tables and chairs near the reception and some tables and chairs outside on a large terrace facing the street. Good vibe. All tourists and owner very friendly. My favourite beach on Bocas del Toro: Bluff beach. To go to Boquete I recommend the trip boat and shuttle via Chiriqui grande better than Almirante. Buy the ticket at Pana Bocas officina next to the police station 50 m from Hansi.
