For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

I really liked the round design and spacious individual traditional cabins, though not all of the wooden slated windows close properly, which might be a concern for guests who have valuables. Also appreciated plenty of towels, toilet paper and hot water! WiFi was pretty good, too, but do check it is on and running if you have a double sim card system to avoid roaming charges. I liked staying in Kabrousse, which has local flair and is much less hectic than neighbouring Cap Skirring.

I love the traditional round hut, very spacious and cozy at night, even without mosquito nets and some windows that don't close, I saw no insects and slept comfortably. The white cotton sheets were pristine, the pillow soft. Best was the plentiful hot water, towels and toilet paper, much appreciated. I didn't eat there nor did I use the small pool, which looked clean enough. The grounds and swimming pool area are meticulously cleaned throughout the day.
