A Magical Stay in Eastern Bali
We had an incredible stay at Villa Mayu, a true haven of peace nestled in the lush nature of Jasri, East Bali. The villa features a beautiful terraced garden by the river and a refreshing pool — a perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature. The atmosphere is deeply Balinese, with soothing massages and traditional offering ceremonies that added a spiritual touch to our stay.
Our host, Made, was absolutely amazing — incredibly dedicated, kind, and professional. He went above and beyond to show us the hidden treasures of East Bali: breathtaking temples, stunning rice terraces, the oldest village on the island, beautiful local beaches, and some of the best authentic restaurants we've ever tried.
A truly unforgettable experience — we highly recommend Villa Mayu for anyone looking to discover the more peaceful and authentic side of Bali.

This is a beautiful and serene place nestled amidst the mountains and nature. The location is ideal—peaceful and tranquil, yet conveniently close to restaurants, cafés, the beach, and temples. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. I hiked around the mountains and really enjoyed the proximity of the beach. I stayed here for just over two weeks, and if not for other commitments, I would have happily extended my stay to a month or more.
I absolutely loved my cozy little cottage and the private garden, which added a special charm to my experience. Hope to visit Pemuteran again, and when I do, this will definitely be my first choice for accommodation.
A few restaurant recommendations nearby:
• Pemuteran Coffee & breads serves amazing coffee and has a lovely atmosphere.
• Warung De Lekong is a small, clean, and authentic local eatery with delicious food, and they even deliver to the lodge.

Ngurah Rai International Airport is 52 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. I can wholeheartedly say this is the most special place I’ve ever stayed. Rice terraces transformed into a stunning, well-tended garden with a few cottages, each one completely private, surrounded by nature and the gentle sound of flowing water everywhere. The only noise you’ll hear is the forest! The room is simple, with large windows overlooking the view. The family takes care of everything with kindness and love, always with a smile and true generosity of spirit. The food is excellent and abundant, and it’s clear that everything is made with love - from the garden’s care to every grain of rice on the plate. There’s a private stream you can bathe in, and plenty of nearby trails to explore. The scenery is breathtaking and the area feels truly authentic.

Blanco Museum is 34 km from Oemah Tepi Sawah, while Monkey Forest Ubud is 34 km from the property. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 52 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. This is a beautiful, tranquil, and unique lodge in the Balinese mountains. I chose it as I wanted a break from the unrelenting heat of coastal North Bali. Oemah Tepi Sawah is up in a stunning mountain plateau with warm days and delightfully cool evenings. I had a spacious villa, which was charming and serene. Check out the different rooms as they have varying combinations of spaces and bathroom arrangements, but they are all idyllic. The hospitality was amazing. Dewi is a wonderful host and very well organised. The food was healthy, delicious, and unique. The superb cook, Anggi, made amazing dinners, especially the soups. I also had two massages from Iluh. The first one hour massage was so relaxing that I booked a second for one and a half hours. The jungle and mountain trekking made for an excellent day. Putu Nova, Kadek Komar, and Komang Deduk are engaging, knowledgeable, and helpful guides. I went trekking with other guests and we all enjoyed their company. Kadek Komar is also a driver and drove me from Lovina to Oemah Tepi Sawah and then to Sanur. I well recommend Kadek Komar as a driver. This is a beautiful place, and I plan on returning every other year. It is the perfect place to stop for a while as you drive between North and South Bali. I plan on stopping here for a few nights in both directions for my future trips to Bali from now on.

Ubung Bus Station is 28 km from the accommodation, while Monkey Forest Ubud is 34 km away. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 43 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. This is a family affair. When I come to Bali Im on the look out for Balinese owned businesses and accommodation. There is real care and attention from Grandma and Made who I predominantly dealt with. I stayed 2 nights but could have stayed for more. I never allured to the cold shower but I was happy for it. Might have been how I was using it. This is a quiet and simple but elegant place to stay with everything you need to turn off. There's also stunning views while walking to be had very close by though rice fields. Don't hesitate. Just book it.

There was a good selection of food for good prices (very good vanilla milkshakes). The rental scooters were quite new and comfortable to drive. The room/villa was a good size and also quite comfortable, ours included a private 'balcony' to sit on.

The wooden cabin and the authentic architecture
We loved our room. It had a very cabin/hut feel. The open ceiling shower and washroom made it feel like you were part of the outdoors. The room were clean and AC worked great. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was amazing and very good portion. We loved that the hotel was oceanfront and we could snorkle right on the beach. We also were brought coffee and tea to your door early morning before breakfast which was a big bonus.
Absolute gem of a hostel. The pool area is stunning and the dorms are in little wooden cabins. The staff are super friendly and can organise everything for you - transfers, tours, motorbikes etc. Beds are comfy and the lockers are huge. It is a little bit out of town but they shuttle every hour during the day to a restaurant which is just stunning, on a cliff with an infinity pool and a temple. The breakfast is the same every day but really good for the price!
- Staff were super attentive and accommodating. - Accommodation was a quirky wood cabin, the toilet is outside in its own hut. If you’re scared of bugs etc then be aware of this. - Room is nice (for camping sort of vibe). - Breakfast was good. - Good wifi.
the staff are outstanding, nothing but smiles and so helpful. grounds are kept beautiful, my cabin/hut was basic but super clean, good shower and loved the mosquito net, didn’t really need it but made it feel cosy. great restaurant onsite and try the Bali rose wine was really good.
Firstly, Listya was an amazing manager and hostess. My wife and I could tell she really knows how to to run a business well as everything runs like clockwork. Money has been very well invested into the rooms. More like modern cabins than rustic huts - really comfortable and nice. Made a nice change for us from previous hotels. Listya was also super friendly and helpful organising pick-up times, tours and any of our other needs. Mardy, our driver, was also a lovely man who took us around the island perfectly. What a great place to stay at!
Charming beachfront property with comfortable air-conditioned beach huts/ chalets set in a tropical garden. Two lovely pools. Several beachside restaurants close by. Large comfortable bed. Relaxing Balinese music in the mornings. Friendly smiling staff. Direct access from ferry boats on arrival.
