Yeghegnadzor is simply the best base for exploring the mountain sights in southern Armenia. It is located right in the middle of the road between Yerevan and Goris, and from there the road leads to Lake Sevan. About an hour drive from Yeghegnadzor there are many interesting things: Areni, Noravank, Spitakavor and so on. Yeghegnadzor itself is a cozy quiet town, pleasant for walking in fine weather. It is also notable for the hospitable people living here. For example, it is customary here to greet all the people you meet on the streets.
