This hut is privately run by a family from Nepal. Our stay there felt so very peaceful, and the food was lovely. The location is absolutely beautiful. Really enjoyed being there. We hiked down to Hallstatt from there, and the trail was very well maintained and offered amazing views.

When we arrived, it was the off season. Most restaurants, shops, and hotels were closed. However, we were upgraded to a stay at Dormio Resort Obertraun and it was beautiful. Right by the lake. The food was also delicious and the staff helpful and friendly.

Fenix Hall is very clean and very conveniently located near the salt mine, just within 5 min by foot you will get there. We had a very comfortable stay for two nights, enjoyed the spacious room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was amazing! Food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant recommendations from the host were very good also!

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to...

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

    Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.

    Beautiful town as if directly out of fairytales... Good option to stay when visiting Hallstatt... Queiter...serene..cheaper accomodation compared to hallstatt...good connectivity to reach hallstatt.

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story!

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story! Even we missed the bus to go to Hallstatt, just chilling on this river side it was still a very good moment and experience. The swan came to eat my shoes btw.

    We liked Obertraun because it was an easy 40 minute walk to Hallstatt and after spending a day there, we could get away from the crowds and numerous shops for some peace and quiet in Obertraun. Obertraun has unobstructed views of the beautiful mountains. We didn’t particularly like having only one restaurant in Obertraun open for meals. Thank God the pizzeria had a variety of decent food as we had to eat there on both nights.

    Obertraun is great spot for tourists and people who like hiking in Dachstein area. The town itself is not so big and crowdy. There is one supermarket and only few restaurants in the town but Hallstatt and other towns are not far away by car. Close proximity to Hallstattersee is also big benefit for summer swimming or walking along the lake.

    We chose Dormio Resort Obertraun for our family holiday - 7 adults and 1 child. Everything exceeded our expectations. The staff members were above helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem. The cottage was lovely - very well equipped, located and big enough to give everyone their own privacy as well as a place to meet. The surrounding area is beautiful, great for walks, hikes, boating and also sightseeing in Hallstatt. Anything you can think of. And the mountains!! Everything about this place was great. So great we should keep it secret. :-)

    The service and attention given by the staff members were beyond nice. The girls were super helpful and polite. The location is also a win, since it's not only very close to Hallstatt and the access to Dachstein, but its right next to a river in a really nice quite area of Obertraun. The common areas and the rooms were nice and tidy. Great and complete breakfast. We will definitely come back. Both Obertraun and Hallstatt are dreamy!

    Good accommodation in beautiful small town of Obertraun. Less than 10min walk to lake side and train station / bus stop. Able to reach Hallstatt in approx 20mins by bus or 30min by boat. Supermarket just around corner. Bathroom was not within room but outside of it but was reserved just for us to use.
