An outstanding place to stay sandwiched between two attractive beaches on the outskirts of Bowen. Our upstairs unit was spacious and clean and had fabulous views from the valcony out over the well kept grounds to the ocean. We self catered, but the motel has a bar and there is a restaurant down by one of the beaches which is open on certain days of the week. I understand there is also a Thai restaurant nearby which opens at weekends. We enjoyed the circular walk up to the radar station lookout and clambering over the rocks to a couple more secuded coves. There is also a swimming pool sensibly situated to the side of the building we were in. Reception was friendly and efficient, and we appreciated the on site laundry.

Overall very surprised. Had no expectations, arrived right before the reception closed. I was greeted so kindly by the lady and made me feel at home right away! We had the cabin, aircon worked, nice kitchen, no stove inside the cabin, it had a microwave. The showers and toilets were clean the whole time

The Hotel Staff were amazing and nothing too much trouble. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. Bedding and towels supplied are immaculate, soft fluffy towels and brilliant white sheets. Wrapped cups and glasses plenty of tea and coffee available. The food atmosphere and entertainment in the pub brilliant. Location from bus stop if travelling via greyhound is practically right outside. There is car parking available outside the rooms should you need it.

Loved our new accommodation located in Rose Bay and the people and visitors there. Saw whales off shore. Businesses not far away for essentials and takeaway food. The view from the lookout on Flagstaff Hill is amazing and gives a full 360 degree view of Bowen and the surrounding area. It's so easy to navigate Bowen but Google maps makes it so much easier.

People we met in the town of Bowen were friendly and helpful. Bowen Hotel restaurant was very good. Bakery was excellent. Bowen is a nice town, with nice people. Shame that the Ocean Views Motel wasn't. We wouldn't return to that motel.

Bowen is a small town in an amazing location surrounded by very picturesque beaches and very little traffic. It has a long jetty where you can walk and see dugongs, stingrays, sea turtles, fishes, and surrounding islands. It has many good restaurants to eat in and fresh seafood shops alongside Woolworths, IGA, Kmart hub and chemists. It is a 2 hr drive up to Townsville and 1 hr drive to Airlie Beach and Shute Harbor for amazing reef trips, and just 1 hr to Proserpine Airport. The stay here is very relaxing and prices for accommodation reasonable. It is a great place for families.

Desperately needs a decent taxi service.

Desperately needs a decent taxi service. I was visiting friends which was hard enough. Would never recommend as a holiday destination basically due to lack of tansport options. Couldn't even enjoy a couple of glasses of wine together over dinner :-(

Most underrated beach destination in Australia. Pure heaven! The area around Greys Bay and Horseshoe is just perfect, could happily stay a week. Very hot in the middle of the day in summer though so have some plans for indoor activities for then.

Fair selection of places to dine.

Fair selection of places to dine. Jochheim's Pies live up to their reputation of best pies around, and ham/salad rolls are amazing. Birds' Fish and Chips very good with lovely outlook over the marina. Love walking the tracks around Queens, Horsehoe and Rose Bays. History Museum is worth a visit, volunteers very obliging to answer any queries.

The Horseshoe Bay region of Bowen is a visually interesting area to visit. Lots of rocky outcrop climbs and beaches to explore. You can find a protected beach location in most prevailing conditions. Our ground level room had a private view of beach and foreshore, with well tendered landscaping leading you directly to the beach for an early evening walk or dip! or just pick a boulder, sit and enjoy a beer or champagne at sunset.

Location was right on the beach, and the room was great. The pool was a great way to wind down after spending a day out and about. Greys Beach and Horseshoe Bay were not to far away that you could walk to. Other park guests were very friendly. I'll definitely return again and hopefully for a little longer.

Friendly onsite Managers, pet friendly cabins and the entire property was the best maintained tourist park we have visited in years. Each site is private with manicured hedges on 3 sides and trees for shade. We will definitely be back.
