Location - so easy if having an early flight, just a short walk from the terminal; sparkling clean room, spacious bathroom, very quiet - no noise from the airport at all. It goes at a cost - windows don't open, bur aircon was very efficient. Fantastic staff!- I made a mistake booking a smaller room at lower floor (to be fair, it wasnt clear from the description), which was OK but music and noise from a lobby was a distraction. We asked if they can move us higher and got an upgraded room on L5, at no extra cost, and that one was fantastic! may not always be the available, so please check carefully what you book.

FAQs about hotels in Canberra

Culture, Politics and Military Mix

A popular quiz question is: what’s the capital of Australia? If you answered Sydney or Melbourne then it’s time to discover the real answer – Canberra. With Parliament House at its core, Canberra fans out across both sides of Lake Burley Griffin to reveal a diverse mix of museums, restaurants and bars filled with curious tourists, political persons and public servants.

Canberra was created as a solution to Australia’s 2 largest cities squabbling over the right to become the national capital. The Limestone Plains region in New South Wales was chosen as the site for present day Canberra. It was a good choice for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bushland, mountain ranges and, more recently, wineries.

The National Gallery, National Museum and National Library of Australia highlight Canberra’s cultural riches. Other notable institutions to visit are the High Court of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive that stockpiles a collection of Australia’s early radio, television and film history.

The military also plays a significant role here with many training facilities for the army such as the Australian Defence Force Academy. An unforgettable experience is attending the Anzac Day Dawn service at The Australian War Memorial.

Australia’s cultural capital with a political punch has many hotels, motels and apartments on Booking.com for that city trip, business jaunt or family holiday.

We really enjoyed riding the e-bikes around the top spots.

We really enjoyed riding the e-bikes around the top spots. Floriade was really beautiful with gorgeous tulips, yummy food, Ferris wheel, music and market stalls. The night fest was enjoyable. Floriade just goes for a month. Always great to see Parliament House with free tours, Anzac Parade leading up to the War Memorial. We also cycled to Jerrabomberra wetlands and Lennox Park. Such fun! Cockington Green was nice too. Took an uber here. We didn’t get to the Canberra centre. Canberra is so beautiful with lots of trees, parks and the lovely Lake Burley Griffin.

This is an adult city. The attractions are all worthwhile.

This is an adult city. The attractions are all worthwhile. It is sometimes difficult to purchase quality ingredients if you are self catering. Artisan bread foe example is hard to find. Using taxis is a better deal than a hire car.

The purpose of my visit was a professional conference.

The purpose of my visit was a professional conference. Hence, I cannot truly comment on the tourist attractions. The Floriade is a nice distraction particularly for nature/flower enthusiasts. It is a busy space surrounded by water. Parliament House is almost certainly worth a visit for the newcomer. The art galleries are somewhat hit/miss (Nat. Portrait and Nat. Art Galleries). Fabulous building constructions with so little to show for it on the inside, but then this may be in the eye of the beholder. No match for National Art Galleries in the rest of the world's major cities. There are other attractions, no doubt, like science museums and the War Memorial.

The options of sightseeing and experiences are amazing. Food options are first class. Would definitely go back and experience more. I stayed at Kingston - absolutely perfect. Pinnacle Apartments - so spacious. Close to everything - great restaurants, a fantastic small football club, Eastlakes, bottle shops, public transport (if needed) and a quiet, safe area.

Faboulous food, very obliging staff and a great winelist. Other previous good experiences include the fabulous D'Browes Restuarant in Narrabundah, the East Hotel and the Commonwealth Club, a home away from home.
