    I have stayed at the Gateshead Tavern three years in a row for Christmas/New Year, and we have had a good experience in the past. We like the location: there is a petrol station. Oporto and Subway next door; there is a great coffee place around the corner, and the beach is a 7-minute drive away. The rooms are basic but comfortable, especially the beds! Despite having the Tavern out front, the hotel area is quiet. The cleaners are amazing and always leave the room well-stocked and clean and tidy.

    We stayed 2 nights for a quick stop over. Very basic but great value for money. Beds were comfortable. Room was very quiet even though it’s at the back of a hotel we didn’t hear a thing and also very clean. Air conditioning worked well. Very hot showers. Room also has a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Parking is good and they also have spaces to park for trailers. There are shops close by within driving distance.
