Check in was a breeze and the friendly front desk staff gave me a beautiful room on a high floor with a fantastic view! The location was great - close to plenty of restaurants and local tourist activities. Every morning, the plentiful, complimentary continental breakfast buffet, with lots of fresh fruit and juices coffee, tea, a delicious assortment of pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, jams and jellies, cereal etc. were available. The hotel is very clean and everything in my room worked properly. I highly recommend Oaks Darwin to anyone staying there.

My cousin from the NT, a regular customer and member, and I were upgraded to a family suite with sofa as we were concerned about getting a good night's sleep and our previous rooms on other visits were a little too noisy. Understandably though as fellow travellers are catchingand arriving on flights at different hours if the day. Here, I would like to suggest that doors are made good to avoid slambing and noise in walkways. On our latest stay we were greeted and assisted professionally by a friendly staff member Daisy who understood our needs. She was amazing! We ate at the restaurant. Enjoyed dinner and wine there. Had a lively evening swim and relaxed in our room on the final night of my wonderful NT journey. This will be the way I plan to end my next trip.

FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

We LOVED the sunny clear weather.

We LOVED the sunny clear weather. The people are friendly and pretty relaxed. The people who were looking after us either in restaurants or uber drivers or the wonderful staff at the MAGNT CENTRE (an absolutely fantastic experience) were professional courteous and genuine in their hospitality and service. The locals were fun and friendly, laid back . The city architecture is varied and awesome as is the unbelievable multiple street art trail works. THEY ARE A MUST SEE

Laid back, plenty to do and see. Good weather and great food options. Didn’t like all the disposed E Scooters all over the curbs. Too much rubbish on roads. A few drunk fighting locals on streets to be cautious of.

Swimming in the lagoon and waterfalls.

Swimming in the lagoon and waterfalls. Mindil Beach and the Market for the spectacular sunsets, The Sailing Club and the Trailer Boat Club to eat. The Jumping Croc Tour was excellent, up close and personal with the crocs. Live music at pubs in the evening. Hop On and Hop Off Bus is well worth it. The Information Centre was extremely helpful, would highly recommend. People very friendly. A must try is the Humpty Doo Saltwater Barramundi. A visit to the Museums is worth a visit re the bombing of Darwin and Cyclone Tracy. Excellent service with the use of an Uber. Would highly recommend a visit to Darwin.

Darwin was a wonderful place to visit, with a very compact CBD with good services. However, you probably need a car as many of the attractions are out of town. The outdoor cinema was very cool, and we were fortunate to be there when the Darwin Festival was on. There are some interesting WW2 tours and museum. The newer Waterfront area is really nice and unfortunately the only place where you can swim in the sea due to the risk of crocodiles at other beaches. Litchfield National Park is a great day trip from Darwin, as is a trip to the Tiwi Islands.

Uber is the way to get around Darwin city, drivers very prompt, friendly, helpful and cars very clean. Tours we did were the Harbour Cruise Dinner, which was great. Staff again very friendly and helpful. We also went to Foggy Dam and Humptydoo Hotel after, with "Look about Tours" max 6 people, Geof was very knowledgeable, and we learnt lots about Darwin we didn't know and had a fantastic time. Highly recommend these two tours. Going to restaurants on Stokes Hill wharf and Kitchener St was a lovely experience and very relaxing. No matter where we went, people of Darwin were very friendly. We also went to Mindel Beach markets which was great, lovely food and stalls of craft etc to see and buy.

Darwin has a great layback feel and totally relaxing.

Darwin has a great layback feel and totally relaxing. Car hire is useful as limited public transport..Great place to sit back for a drink and meal and watch the sunset is the Darwin Sailing club and the Trailer sailing club which are located next to each other. Mindil markets are great to look at all the stalls and a large variety of food stalls available.Parap has a markets every week .All available is "Mad about Coffee " which is superb and a lovely shop called "Elevate " which carries a variety of Australian sourced gifts and beautiful clothing.

After staying at an airport hotel - with doors slamming and so much noise, I lived staying at this very quiet hotel in a lovely suburb outside the city. The parap market is awesome. The location was very convenient to the things we were doing in Darwin. It was great!
