Having been to and really loving Hobart, my daughter and I decided to try the next biggest city in Tasmania, Launceston. It's not as vibrant and does not offer as many attractions as Hobart, but does boast the glorious Cataract Gorge and Tamar Wetlands. With a car, you can also visit landmarks including Cradle Mountain, the Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and Freycinet National Park. Great town to visit - proximity to great landscapes such as Ben Lomond, Liffey Falls, Cradle Mountain and Strahan, nearby wine regions and of course Hobart, the south and west is just a couple of hours or so drive away. I loved Launceston and wished we had stayed longer.
I loved Launceston and wished we had stayed longer. As we flew in and out of Launceston, we didn't consider staying longer. Everyone we met were incredibly friendly and helpful. The main part of the city is very easy to walk around. I ate at a lovely cafe for breakfast and the food and service were amazing. Coffee is also brilliant.Guest review byKimAustralia

My two kids are usually allergic to dust mites, but thankfully, there were no issues this time. The hotel staff contacted me a day in advance to confirm the expected check-in time. Since I arrived at Launceston Airport at 7 AM, they mentioned that if other guests checked out early, they would prioritize cleaning the room so I could check in earlier and rest well.
