Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

I love Melbourne, it has that old world/European feel to it.

I love Melbourne, it has that old world/European feel to it. It's very cosmopolitan and there are secret alleyways with cafes and restaurants everywhere. There's plenty to see and do, and the public transport is spot on.

We came for the Starwars Lego and enjoyed another exhibition at Melbourne Museum at discounted rates on the same day. We also loved the Free city circle tram, the SkyDeck at night; the Fox Car Collection and the Hellenic Museum; we loved the easy layout of Melbourne where there are lots of things to see within the FREE tram zone and/or on foot. Southbank/South Wharf has amazing eateries, and good coffee places area a dime a dozen! Three days was definitely not enough to enjoy this fabulous city with friends and family!

The best city, full of life and friendly people, great markets, shops and eateries to suit all tastes. The public transport system is one of the best, purchase a myki card and travel to your hearts content. Roscoe on St.Kilda Rd Melbourne, try and Im sure you will go back, great Italian cuisine. South Melbourne Market, try the Greek Restaurant, excellent food. And for any sport loving person, don't forget to do the Albert parkrun.

You cannot fault the location of The Oaks. Very central and within walking distance to Crown casino, DFO outlet, Melbourne CBD just across the bridge and all the lovely restaurants along the Southbank promenade. Apartment was serviced day. Views of the Melbourne skyline are fabulous. The foyer and rest of the hotel was very clean. We had the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment and it was very spacious and comfortable. Fully functional kitchen was stocked daily with tea/coffee etc.

Great location between CBD and Docklands. Tram access to all parts of the city, 5 minute walk. Spenser St outlet including Coles only a block away. Restaurants/cafes and bars surround the Atlantis Hotel. The hotel staff and accommodation were excellent. The breakfast option was great and a good way to start a busy day. The pool and sauna were amazing. Gym facilities were great. I will book again when visiting Melbourne.

Superbly located close to Melbourne Airport and the complimentary shuttle to and from the airport was fantastic. Room was beautiful with a big bath and walking-in shower, and the beds were really comfortable. Staff at reception and in the restaurant were top notch, and for a hotel, the restaurant food was good quality and very fairly priced compared to restaurants In Melbourne CBD. Highly recommended.

Being close to the trains and in the CBD it was very noisy. That is not the staff's fault it is just what it is for city hotels. The hotel was very clean and new looking. Reception area was lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Thanks for a lovely stay Brady Apartments. Very close to Southern Cross station, places to eat and drink. All within walking distance.

Despite that I thought I was booking the CBD apartments and arriving at the Docklands instead was a bit of a surprise, we really enjoyed the location. It was quiet and there was a tram stop right outside making travel around Melbourne very easy. The room was large, clean and well equipped.
