The local hotel (pick the busy one - it’ll be obvious) has a great atmosphere, friendly service and good value meals. The Quandong Cafe (1 street back from the Main Street) make excellent coffee and have a good breakfast and lunch selection. Quorn’s a good base for the southern end of the Flinders. And for train buffs, or those who plan ahead, there’s the Pichi Richi Railway. I have family from interstate who rode that very recently and where well impressed.

Quorn is a typical northern country town in SA, some lovely old buildings, and of course, home of the Pichi Richi Railway. You can appreciate when driving around that this town was once a busy thriving centre, now somewhat quieter. Well worth a visit and a ride on the historic steam powered railway.

A quiet, neat and clean country town.
A quiet, neat and clean country town. Perfect location for exploring the Flinders Ranges. Pichi Richi railway is excellent.
Dining out venues in Quorn are limited, but it is only 35 minutes to Port Augusta by car where there are many eating options.

Such history and very good Silo Light Show.
Such history and very good Silo Light Show. We should have stayed another night and visited the next town up , Hawker and visited the jeff Morgan Gallery . What a mistake we made!!!
The Transcontinental Pub was also outstanding for dinner . We had the Beef Stew with mash. Simply the best . Great example of an outback Aussie pub with some fascinating locals.

A town that has survived and thrived against all the odds!
A town that has survived and thrived against all the odds! Several friends had recommended visiting the town again to view the new silo projections at night. It was a great show and highlighted the town's amazing history. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

Great place to stay in a ' good vibe ' town. Very comfortable, clean and quiet. The manager Paul provided a friendly welcome and highlighted the townships facilities. Indicated that we would like to use the BBQ for cooking dinner. When we returned after viewing the township, the BBQ and all utensils etc were available. Nothing was a problem.
The Quorn silo show is worth attending.

Clarinda, the host, was delightful. The size of the space was exceptional and relaxing. We had a fantastic time in Quorn, experiencing the Afghan express train to Port Augusta and eating at the Transcontinental Hotel and Quandong Cafe.

Quorn is a sensational town to wander around. The location of the premises was so close to everything and the room setting is something I will bring the Mrs to experience how great it was
