    Rutherglen is a small country town surrounded by many...

    Rutherglen is a small country town surrounded by many wineries. There are three hotels which offer food and drink, plus a couple of restaurants & cafes. The folk are friendly and provide that good old country hospitality.

    Great food and coffee (lunch) at Caffeine Machine on the main street of Rutherglen, lovely little town with excellent wineries nearby. We had a fantastic evening meal at the Victoria Hotel which had recently been renovated and was more like a Five Star Restaurant than a run of the mill country pub, excellent food and wines there with very attentive staff. We didn't spend long enough in Rutherglen and looking to revisit in the near future and spend at least a long weekend.

    Rutherglen is a lovely old town with lots of cafes and shops to look at. It's close to other Victorian towns and close to Corowa across the border. Lots to see and do in the area. Focus is the wineries and restaurants in Rutherglen and surrounds.

    We spent 2 nights in Rutherglen and could have spent longer.

    We spent 2 nights in Rutherglen and could have spent longer. We took our bikes and rode the new bike loops that link Rutherglen and Corowa and link a number of the wineries. The bike paths are excellent - really diverse and a very good way to get around. We rode around 50km and visited 3 wineries (Pfiffer, Buller and Campbells) all of which were excellent. Best wine and cycling experience!!

    What is not to like, if you like wine, food, and walks?

    What is not to like, if you like wine, food, and walks? If these are not your thing, do not go to Rutherglen. If they are, you have plenty to visit to stay entertained for several days. This is also a good area to just relax. There are places to sit, read, or do whatever regenerates you. Do keep in mind the time of year because it can get HOT or cold where outdoor activities may be limited for some.

    A warm stay in the Rutherglen. My wife and I recently spent four lovely nights at La Maison St Arnaud B&B. (though I should say 4 glorious breakfasts) for along with Kellie the lovely hostess with the mostess… this was a high point of our trip to the Rutherglen region. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the warmth and care that Kellie put into our little holiday was thoughtful and really made a lovely stay.

    Bird life amazing, the water and surroundings were lovely. It was great we were in Rutherglen before the wine festival started. So great ser ice from all the wineries we visited with out the crowds.
