Bansko is great year around.
Bansko is great year around. Even if one is not a skier it is properly better to visit during the rest of the year. Plenty to do during all of seasons. It is great for single travelers, couples, families and groups. There are a lot of good restaurants, bars, stores, galleries, museums. It is very safe any time of day. We traveled during the summer.
We traveled during the summer. So, take this into consideration only for summer trips. The whole Bansko town looks focused on one thing: winter sports. During the summer, it's deserted. We only saw a few football teams for their summer camps and a few stragglers. In July, most of the restaurants are closed. Same with most shops. There was a bit of animation in the old city, with a few more shops and restaurants open. The gondola felt quite expensive: around 100 eur for a family of 2 adults and 3 children. Super clean regarding the linens and furniture. The biggest flaw was that the blinds were NOT sunlight blockout and when the sun rose light gets in (which woke us up). Also what we found hard to keep clean was the carpet !
