    When we arrived, we learned about a festival that weekend in...

    When we arrived, we learned about a festival that weekend in a village close by. It surprised me that I hadn’t found information about it before. Troyan is probably overrun by tourists during the big religious festival in mid-August and therefore I would recommend visiting earlier. There is plenty to do, and one can find quiet contemplation in the monastery too.

    It is a lovely town in the mountains, the views are simply incredible! It is a very friendly town, where people have time to chat to you, and so many excellent places to eat! We particularly enjoyed the trip to Troyan Monastery, such a fantastic place, and the museum in Troyan town centre is also good. My only criticism of the town is that public transport is not great, and also that hiking is made quite difficult (and not so enjoyable) by the sheer quantity of bugs, who do not seem to be deterred by any insect repellent. Overall, if you want a more authentic taste of Bulgaria, with beautiful buildings, great food and kind people then Troyan is a great choice!

    We could not fault the Troyan .

    We could not fault the Troyan . The staff on arrival were amazing and so polite , I was expecting To be booked in speaking Bulgarian , but the command in of the English the stall had was flawless so we let them continue in English, incredible... The Locals we came across were the same. So good in fact I felt embarrassed. .I can speak Bulgarian. But not to the level The hotel staff spoke English. . It was an absolute pleasure to.

    The owners were very hospitable and kind. Lovely daughter who spoke very good English. They offered to pick us up from the bus station in Troyan and took us to the accommodation. Also the next morning they again offered to drive us and took us to Troyan Monastery where we planned to go. Their daughter gave me as a gift two lovely crotched coasters that she had made herself.

    Were very few guests which probably didn’t help. Needs refurbishing. Room was large and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was appalling. Had booked 2 nights but changed after first night to another hotel. Was very disappointed after reading some of the reviews. Not sure they were staying at the same hotel.

    Very clean and fairly large room right in the city center, very nice and welcoming hosts. We'll definitely stay there the next time we're in Troyan. We also recommend the restaurant next door :)

    Very spacious rooms and great views from the balcony. The outdoor pool is very nice including a kids section. The hotel was so nice that we plan to return next year.
