Ojochal is quiet but very close to the larger beach town, Uvita, where we enjoyed an exciting whale watch and the Whale's Tail beach. Some beaches are just 10 minutes away—-beautiful, with pretty sand, just-right waves, and cute little hermit crabs. There are many, many delicous and inventive restaurants--especially Heliconia, Restaurant La Pala, and the Soda Ojoche. The people are extremely nice and helpful. Ojochal is a great base location to explore the Uvita area beaches and the Sierpe mangroves to the south. Lots of area waterfalls, beaches, attractions, and restaurants. This town is one of the most peaceful and beautiful that we’ve visited in Costa Rica. It also has great restaurants and really nice people. Nice for a couple with no children for a little R&R and great food. Best food in CR. Sud is great if you want great food and live music or dance lessons (not sure which nights). Other restaurants we loved included Heliconia, Fusion, Kua Kua for the stunning view, Terraba and Mamma e Papa. Go to Playa Tortuga for a long walk or mellow beach visit and to see the scarlet macaws. Visit Playa Ventanas - more families, people playing, vendors, music.
