Excellent port of entry to visit lots of Costa Rican gems! Whether you are looking for adventure or chill beach vibes, this is the place with lots of access to tours from the city. And the city itself has a very robust historical, art and cultural experiences. Would recommend. Predominantly Spanish speaking, but lots of nationals will speak some English! San Jose is a patchwork of beautiful sites amidst a chaotic mess of traffic-riddled highways. We didn't really stay long enough to give it an accurate review, but our short stay was not encouraging. In general the city hasn't much to it - the best part is getting out on tours to see some nature! Traffic is also terrible at peak times, sometimes tripling the time is takes to get somewhere. There is much to do and see here…very spread out.
There is much to do and see here…very spread out. Might be wise budget-wise if longer stay to rent a car. Otherwise Uber is great here! The Green Arc Foundation, the art museum, walking tours, local food—Soda—, La Chimba, Sunday farmer markets, and refreshing climate are all so enjoyable!Guest review byKimberlieUnited States
