We stayed at the Selva Bananito Lodge for two nights over the 2023/24 New Year period. If nature and the outdoors is your thing, coupled with a destination that is being as ecologically sound and sensitive to its surroundings as possible, then I can’t recommend a stay here highly enough. Various excursions and activities are on offer, we can highly recommend the forest walk and horse riding, Niels was an excellent guide too. I also opted for a half hour Gyro flight with Jurgen on our final morning. We flew out over the forest to the coast and back to the private airstrip with Jurgen pointing out the extent of their forest and many points of interest along the way, he really is passionate about this land and a good ambassador for what can be achieved. It really puts things into perspective when seen from the air as well. We could easily have spent longer at the Selva Bananito Lodge as there’s plenty of activities we didn’t get time to do. Even spend some more time bird watching from our cabin veranda. Finally I’d like to thank Iris for her help, who tirelessly assisted with everything around the lodge and also helped us plan our itinerary in Costa Rica generally. We stayed in 2 different rooms as we extended our stay. Both were lovely but the second had a balcony & better view and stronger wifi. The staff were helpful, and while the parking was a short walk away, it was still very close and very secure. Breakfasts were large and tasty. The location is close to the sea, the plaza and shopping. We felt safe walking around the area.

The apartment is located within a gated community just outside Puerto Limon near Playa Bonita in a quiet, nice and safe neighborhood. The very well equipped and super clean apartment offers everything you need for a pleasant stay. All details have been thought of, super comfy beds and quality linens & towels, full kitchen and even a washing mashine in a separate laundry room. The very kind & friendly owners, who make you feel welcome the minute you arrive, live next door and are on hand with advice and recommendations. Secure off-street parking as well. This is without doubt the best spot to stay to explore this part of Costa Rica!

I had a really great stay overall. The self checkin was super easy and well described. The communication was also really fast, friendly and helpful. Everything I needed was there and readily available. The backup fan was also a lifesaver! Above all, I am so impressed and charmed by the willingness to help and friendliness of the owner. Will definitely be coming back if I find myself in Limon again :)
