It's a lovely small Spa town with a long history back to the Roman times, very quiet and peaceful - no wonder that some famous politicians and artists like the Nehru family, S. Aleichem or A. Chekchov stayed here to find cure for their health problems. Besides a visit to the Cassiopeia Therme I also would recommend to spend some time in the Museum for Literatur ("Tschechow-Salon") which is right next to the Therme. Not suitable for children. The first day I asked to heat some water for the baby, they gave me hot water for tea, which I never used, but paid for. One tip, avoid eating in restaurants, very poor quality of food, and prices that are absurd compared to quality of food, long waiting times (we waited for 1 hour for food to arrive). Close to the thermal spa on the positive side. Hotel pool was decent. Breakfast was ok, but small details like getting instant coffee served in a flask left me scratching my head…. Quite disappointing not to get real coffee. Room was far from soundproof. Also, one bottle of water in the room for the duration of the stay (not replenished!).
