A beautiful old town with wonderful castle perched above. Must be crowded in peak season, but the beautiful Moselle River Valley is absolutely awesome, especially when viewed from Boat and Bike (which we did the following week.

A nice little town with a lovely castle but other than visiting the castle not much to do unless you are a hiker so would only recommend a short stay. Very little variance in for, too many pizza joints.

Not a lot to do there.

Not a lot to do there. Each day, our focus was on leaving and going to other places within reasonable driving distances. It's a good hub to get to other, more interesting places. The one place within Cochem that was worth the time, energy, and money is a visit to the castle that looms over it.

The best parts about Cochem are: 1).

The best parts about Cochem are: 1). It’s in middle of Moselle River so you have easy access to towns on both sides. 2). You can train to Moselkern to hike Burg Eltz. 3). You can take a boat from Cochem to Beilstein, a must see/do town! 4). You can train to Tra-Tra and bus to Bernkastel- Kues, another lovely must see town. 5). You can drink really good white wine! The worst parts about Cochem are: 1). The town center has mainly touristy shops selling cheap souvenirs. No handcrafted local items. 2). You have to use a reliable source for a good restaurant to eat. 3). You have to look hard for the authentic meat market because it is small and does not open Sundays or Mondays and may close early. 4). Your best authentic bread/sandwich shop is on a side street near train station. 5). Your supermarket is on the perimeter of town. 6). The train station is not well maintained and there are homeless people there.

The city is nice and the castle is amazing, however I was there in February and despite of being school hollidays the city was empty, the major part of the places (restaurants, shops) were closed and those ones which were opened, the service was below average. I would recommend to visit Cochem, but 1 day is enough and sleeping there is not a good idea.

Cochem is full of charm and half timbered beauty and romance. The location right on the Mosel River makes it perfect for river ship rides, strolling and bike rides to enjoy the scenery. It is close to Burg Eltz which is a stunning pointed mid evil castle that is a must see if you’re in the area, it is our favorite. There are plenty restaurants with outdoor dining and great food, Mosel wine and of course bier!

No manned reception after 6pm but this was communicated clearly and in a very friendly manner in advance. Clear instructions received in advance about how to retrieve key for car parking and key for room. All worked out as described without fault upon arrival at 7pm. Comfortable and quiet room. Hotel is within comfortable walking distance of the centre of Cochem. Great breakfast. Very friendly staff. No problem with delaying check-out until 12 noon.

A bright and spotless hotel with fantastic views and at the quiet end of town. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Mosel and Reichsburg castle. Comfortable rooms and an excellent breakfast buffet, parking and lift access. The hotel is situated on the opposite side of the river from the busy commercial area but 10 minutes walk across the bridge. Excellent restaurants nearby.

Excellent place to explore Cochem. The hotel is situated in quiet place with a walking distance to the Markt. Hotel offers its own parking place. The owner extended the permission for next hours without any additional fee. Very nice breakfast buffet prepared as an art exhibition. Tasty and prepared individual. I strongly recommend this place.

The room size was excellent. It was more like an apartment than a hotel room, with a small but well equipped kitchenette and a balcony. Only a short walk to the centre of Cochem. The owner answered several of my phone calls immediately. Very happy overall with this hotel.
