We had the great pleasure of visiting Engel 16 in Gutach, and from the very first moment we felt truly welcome. Astrid and Victor greeted us warmly with champagne and gave us an excellent introduction to the Black Forest area, especially the many beautiful hiking routes. They were always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. Victor, always smiling and polite, prepared the meals himself with the finest ingredients — and every dish was simply outstanding. Each morning, the breakfast buffet was perfectly prepared and ready for us, a wonderful way to start the day. Astrid made sure we enjoyed the perfect drinks and hospitality throughout our stay, which made us feel truly at home. All in all, Engel 16 is a beautiful and peaceful place with fantastic food and outstanding service. Thank you so much, Astrid and Victor, for this unforgettable stay! Excellent stop on a trip to Southern Europe. We liked everything and will be back. Super shower cabin. Small but pleasant spa. Very patient staff with our two toddlers. Dinner food was excellent.

We decided to stay here very spontaneously but we are glad that we did. The room was exactly as pictured and very spacious. Everything was clean! We also enjoyed the balcony. The entire hotel is decorated beautifully and very thought through! You find nice little details all around the place. We also decided to have dinner in the restaurant downstairs and it was delicious!! Service was excellent and attentive. The food was cooked to perfection and the Manager made sure we had the best time. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and offered a wide range of local products. Everything a decent German breakfast should offer was available! Eggs were freshly made in the morning to your liking. Coffee, tea, juice, water everything was available. Service in general was outstanding and very welcoming.

The hotel is completely secluded off the main road with plenty of parking. The pools are warm and inviting. Included in the room price was a five course dinner which was very acceptable. All in all a good hotel and we’re sure to return.

Gutach is a great base for exploring the Black Forest.

Gutach is a great base for exploring the Black Forest. The scenery is great, and the distances to better known towns is not great. The open air museum was much more than I expected, tho the tourist gauntlet to get to the front gate is a bit much. The KONUS card is a great benefit. Free train rides and discounts to the best attractions. Be sure to eat at the Rathskeller in Hausach

The hosts are affable and helpful, and their modern rental apartment is in a charming 350 years old house. It has beautiful views to a castle up the valley, and to the surrounding Black Forest (Schwartzwald) on the mountains. The pleasant rural village of Gutach has some fine cafes and restaurants, including two at the outstandingly well presented and interesting open air museum. The bus and rail services are excellent for travelling locally or further afield, and there is a good variety of hiking paths into the Schwartzwald.

Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, providing valuable tips for exploring the surrounding area. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel's central location made it convenient for sightseeing and starting hikes. The breakfast was truly outstanding, couldn't have wished for a better start to the day.

I loved staying here. The room was so clean. Felt like home. They have all facilties like kitchen on the ground floor with kettle,fridge, knives, plates etc. Also washing machine with dryer on the basement. It was so hot when we were in Gutach, but they even provided a fan upon request. Loved their service😊

We stayed in Germany for a month, and our weekend stay at Rommelehof was one of our favourites! The staff were lovely and cooked us the best meal of our entire trip. It's a beautiful old house surrounded by the most gorgeous Black forest views. We can't wait to return again in the future.
