I should have planned less time only because I had been ill the week before. We saw the Dom although we did not see the fantastic treasury this time. Lovely Museums and some fantastic architecture. If by car there aare some fascinating museums dedicated to the now deceased DDR, castles and world heritage sites like Wernigerode and Quedlingburg. I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening...
I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening, and left the next morning, staying at Hotel Sankt Florian near the Domplatz. That part of town was about dead at 8:30 PM when I checked in. Thank goodness, I picked up some chop suey at a China-Thai Imbiss on Magdeburg Strasse while walking to the hotel from the Bahnhof. The Domplatz and churches were lovely that evening. The next morning, two of the three major churches never opened, and I skipped the Cathedral because they wanted money to enter. I don't pay to enter houses of God. On the way back to the Bahnhof, I located the Tourist Information office and found it well and willingly tended. I walked to the Bahnhof, just to kill time before my train departed, although the Number 1 tram was easily available. I had a pleasant time in Halberstadt, saw enough of it to remember, but have no reason to return.Guest review byWilliamUnited States
