We visited friends here and enjoyed the views over the lake and wandering around the waterfront. The city is known for the obvious focus of boating, bathing, and relaxing, but we also found a nice, downtown with historical charm. This is such a beautiful area to visit! I was so overwhelmed with the beautiful area and the historical town. Beautiful buildings and the vibe is buzzing with people/families walking dogs along the promenade frequently. Entertainment seemed to be more taking place in the weekend, with a fantastic artist painting and selling his artwork. There was a man with an organ grinder, and a man I am sure is a professional piano accordion player - we heard Vivaldi and Mozart pieces to name a few being played. Brava! A lady was playing a violin on one occasion. So much talent and just in the area of walking along the harbour. The area is so pretty and we walked in a few different directions, but unfortunately didn't get to the thermal spa for an aniticaped swim. The ferries are frequent leaving Uberlingen, and go to the areas across the bay. We went by train(s) to Lindau for a day, which was so picturesque on a sunny day! The town's buildings are Medieval and so unique to the area. I went to the private island of Mainau for a day and what a feast for the eyes of beauty with many gardens and places to sit and look at the lake or relax. A day of much exercise as you walk /meander around the exquisite gardens of the island. I recommend these places in particular. Uberlingen is a quaint town by the lake Constance. It has a long promenade for walks, and is well connected to other towns and near the border with Austria and Switzerland. There is a market every Saturday, and it has a good range of restaurants and coffee shops. It's a very relaxing and beautiful town. Uberlingen is a beautiful small town.
Uberlingen is a beautiful small town. It has a very pleasant promenade where you can spend hours with a glass wine or a tasty meal. The many restaurants are welcoming and you can experience local, Italian Balkan food. August very lively with tourists. Friedrichshafen easy reach with Zeppelin Museum, Dornier museum. Excellent Car & Tractor museum close by. My wife really enjoyed the variety of shops in Uberlingen. Lots of restaurants on the waterfront and down backstreets. Pleasant ferry across the lake and bus service to Konstanz if you want an even bigger variety of shops, old buildings etc. Second visit to Uberlingen and still plenty to warrant a third visit. The bed was so comfortable that we slept an uninterrupted 10 hours! The breakfast had a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals,eggs, bread, cheese, etc. There was secure indoor space to lock our bikes. The man on reception was very friendly and so were the breakfast room staff. The staff were all very friendly and coped well with our limited ability to speak German. Our room was large and comfortable with a lake view. There was plenty of free parking. We had one evening meal in the restaurant which was very good. The breakfast offering was also very good.
