    This was an overnight getaway for us instead of a day trip...

    This was an overnight getaway for us instead of a day trip from Frankfurt. The dam on Edersee Lake with views of this castle and the lake views from the castle were fantastic. The hotel had every luxury. The cafe was a great place to sit on the terrace and enjoy a beer with views of the lake. The Alte Turmuhr restaurant was excellent. Really nice overnight getaway.

    We arrived late afternoon with our two teenage sons and...

    We arrived late afternoon with our two teenage sons and after settling in and having a cold drink in the castle yard we had dinner in a nearby village. The next day we took the lift down to Edersee where we rented a boat for a couple of hours enjoying the wonderful landscape from the water side. We spend the afternoon in Wildpark Edersee wandering for three hours. We had a lovely day.

    the lake and the dam are great, across the dam wall there are great restaurants.,great views, great roads if your a motorcyclist, the old town of waldeck is cool, nice castle.there are so many great places to visit within a few miles drive, the whole sauerland is well worth a visit, however beware, there are mobile police cameras that do you for speeding in the blink of an eye,driving bans and fines are easy to get.but most mountain towns in germany are the same,but i wouldnt let that stop you from visiting

    The apartment itself is well-equipped, cosy and clean. I really liked the garden chill-out area with BBQ. It's not far from Edersee to arrange something while the weather is good. Table games in the cupboard and the large TV with/ Netflix and Amazon apps will make your stay comfortable during rainy days.
