FAQs about hotels in Tallinn

From Middle Ages to Modernity

Wander along the narrow cobbled streets of the medieval city of Tallinn and marvel at the fashion forward culture existing comfortably alongside tradition.

The 14th-century church spires wind their way into the sky on top of the Toompea hill which rises in the center of town. Outside the city walls modernity reveals itself through soviet-style concrete buildings and contemporary glass skyscrapers.

A multitude of shopping opportunities are available especially along Viru Street, with several rising Estonian designer boutiques side by side with traditional crafts of woven fabrics, pottery and glass blowing. The café culture abounds and visitors can soak up the friendly atmosphere between purchases. Restaurants on the colorful Raekoja Plats offer a chance to try traditional Estonian fare.

Situated on the Gulf of Finland, a popular day trip is by boat to Helsinki. With a location so close to the water, the sandy beaches are a popular summer destination for locals and visitors alike. In the winter, the beauty of buildings such as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is hard to beat. With over 60 self-catering apartments and hotels available on Booking.com, you can live like a king in this pretty Estonian capital.

It is a beautiful city with great food.

It is a beautiful city with great food. I am so glad that I had visited! I also visited Riga and Vilnius. Comparing those three cities is also nice. Well, if I had to pick only one city to revisit, I would go Vilnius though. Tallinn is beautiful, but very organized and neat, lacking chaotic energy of the city.

Small town which is easy to walk round in a day.

Small town which is easy to walk round in a day. We did a free walking tour which was excellent. Food is good. Avoid the main square as this is touristy but lots of excellent restaurants and cafes/coffee shops in the side streets.

Tallinn is a city that feels truly magical — like stepping into a living fairytale. Its cobblestone streets, historic towers, and charming old town create an enchanting atmosphere that captures your heart at first sight. Every corner is full of charm and beauty, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with the city. Once you visit, you’ll find yourself wanting to return again and again to experience its magic all over.

Our first trip to this area, quite different from our home in NZ, we really needed more time as we were still jet lagged, the old city is very interesting, the Museum of local history ( in the guild hall) was quite interesting as we have not really been exposed to the extent of the Hanseatic League, although we knew about it.

There are many places for tourist visits.

There are many places for tourist visits. There are places for a hearty meal with well-decorated premises. Transport runs quite often, and if you decide not to focus on transport costs + you are interested in museums, then, for example, the tourist Tallinn Card (24/48/72 hours) can significantly make you forget about the headache associated with saving on tickets + it opens you paid access to a whole list of museums (although you need to very carefully calculate the opening hours of each of the museums to make it effective). It is very cool that the public transport website has tracking of the movement of transport units (specific buses, trams). https://transport.tallinn.ee/#tallinna-linn/en > Select a route, > then its direction ("Starting stop" - "Final stop"), > then (in a list somewhere in a visible place) the stop for boarding the transport. Opposite the selected route, you click "Show on map" - and the site will show you the trajectory of the planned movement around the city + your stop, where you want to board the transport + the movement of the markers "where all the scheduled units of the selected route are now, including the one that should arrive at the stop you selected."

A recently renovated hotel right in the old town wall. Nice staff, easy checkin. Super buffet breakfast. Wifi ok, all clean. Although in old town, very quiet. Option 1: Ahtri Ahtri 3 (EP42), Ahtri 3, Tallinn 24 hours - EUR 4.00 Option 2: Admirali Admirali parking house (P19), Ahtri 6a, Tallinn 24 hours - EUR 6.00 Option 3: Sadama Sadama (EP29), Mere puiestee 10 24 hours - EUR 5.00

Our stay here was really wonderful, and exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in many boutique hotels but this one was probably one of the best. The hotel was immaculate from the moment you walked through reception to our bedroom, which is very important for me. The spa was on another level in terms of calming, decor but especially cleanliness. The breakfast was also very good. My partner and I were really impressed with this hotel!

The hotel is located near the entrance of Tallinn old town. It is a little bit dated but the rooms are clean and well maintained. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around, and the famous tourist spots in old town are within walking distance. The staff were kind enough to extend my stay until the latest possible check out time.
