My main reason for visiting Burgos was to see the monasteries: La Cartuja de Miraflores Monasterio Las Huelgas Reales Monasterio de San Pedro de Cardeña These are superb examples of Romanesque Architecture and are still inhabited by monks/nuns, They are not in the centre of the city and one needs to take a taxi - not far and not expensive . Burgos is a walkable city. It takes its time so should you.
Burgos is a walkable city. It takes its time so should you. The Cathedral is beautiful and there is a Monastery 30 min walk away from Plaza Mayor that is a must see (tour are few and far between so check the opening and tour times - they are in Spanish so bring google audio translate if you are not Spanish speaking). We loved the restaurant Mar del Norte for amazing seafood. Read the reviews of other for tapas as we found the plating of food too plentiful at times. The people are really lovely and the city is beautiful. We stayed 10 days because of a dance competition but 3 days should be enough for average tourists.Guest review byMarilyn - 8.0
