Fabulous! Everything about it. As beautiful as Santillana is, it's too touristy for me but we we're starting our next section of the CAMINO DEL NORTE from the town. The location is great, the building is beautiful, the room was fabulous AND as for the breakfast (Included) I wish I had 3 stomachs, there was SO MUCH wonderful choice, amd the price was incredible. In my own stupidity I left a pair of sandals at the hotel, I only realised when I arrived at Comillas. I rang the hotel and they offered to drive over to COMILLAS with them, which I couldn't let them do, and will collect them when I return to the area in May, awesome awesome people running a fabulous hotel!!

    It's a pretty medieval town, and I read that they control development, yet it still allows souvenir shops! It suffers in the way all pretty touristy places do: not many decent places to eat at a reasonable price. After one evening looking around we used the hotel as a base to travel to other places. I'd recommend a day visit at most.

    Beautiful historic buildings on the historic pilgrim way. Dining out was on the expensive side. Three days would have been about right as you can see most of museums within that timeframe. Poor public transport so a car is a must.

    Plenty of gift shops and restaurants and some interesting, historical buildings/museums all within the town. The main central area has cobbled streets so can be a little hard/difficult underfoot. All the parking areas seemed to be very busy and plenty of people about. There was an open-air Mariachi band concert on one of the nights which was fab. The town is also well placed to get to the beaches at Suances and Comillas, both of which were fantastic towns. Also close to the motorway to get a little further into the mountains if you want to do that. Potes and Fuente De ( cable car up the mountain) were a good day out.

    This town was not really on my radar.

    This town was not really on my radar. It was a real surprise--one of those happy accidents to find it. The town is fascinating and very walkable. The buildings are lovely and the shops are wonderful.

    The town was very busy, all of the restaurants had the same menu except for a few, unfortunately the ones that were different were all fully booked. We eventually had to pick a restaurant (or go hungry as there are no shops and had to wait outside for well over an hour for our food, when it came it was disappointing to say the least, and was way overpriced for the level of quality. The response from some in the shops and restaurant was quite rude - they were busy but there is no excuse for rudeness.

    Quaint small town with medieval properties.

    Quaint small town with medieval properties. Less than 30 minute drive to the ferry port at Santander. This is our second stop over on the way to Santander. Chose the town after a long drive from Salamanca. Although described as a town, more like a village in being compact and easy to tour by foot.

    This hotel is a true gem, everything was perfect. The property is nestled in the picturesque medieval town of Santillana del Mar. Great breakfast, cozy atmosphere, spotless rooms, charming interiors. The location is ideal for wandering around the town, and there are incredible views of the countryside from the terrace. Our host, Rafa, was the absolute best! All in all, a stay we won't forget :)

    The outdoor space and overall decor was lovely cottage vibe. The room was spacious and clean. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Basically what you see in the photos is what you get. Very serene and comfortable place to stay. The town of Santillana Del Mar is about 5 mins drive away.

    Nice hotel in great location for visiting Santillana del Mar. Parking can be difficult in the streets around the village so this hotel with a free car park is perfect. Fairly simple hotel but nice clean rooms and a good but simple breakfast included in the room price.
