Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and...
Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and lakes. It is certainly a must if you want to get to know Saami culture better. It also perfectly fits for those, who like nature and long walks. Although it is small, you can find pretty many activities there - from taking a boat trip in Inari lake in the summer period, to visiting Side museum and doing northern light hunting in winter. We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake is completely frozen but temperatures around 0. Was ideal for the kids who spent days in the snow! We saw the northern lights (had to stay up till 2am for a very lucky gap in the clouds but was worth it). Great place to visit, i think a lot of people just go to Rovaniemi to see the lights and do activities etc and it too is a great location, but Inari had a more small town vibe and better cultural information. Great place to watch norther lights.
Great place to watch norther lights. There is a fantastic Saami museum - Siida with big indoor and outdoor exhibition. From here you can go for a hike to Otsamo hill and Pielpajarvi wooden church. In summer you can also go on a cruise around lake Inari. There are also local companies offering activities like husky sleeging or fishing.Guest review byEmiliaPoland - 10.0

We went on a snowmobiling trip and a dog sledding trip. We liked both but really enjoyed the dog sledding more. The cabins on the lake at night, when the northern lights came out, were perfect. Yes it was cold but we could go in an out of the cabins and take pictures as the northern lights waxed and waned. Pretty little town, beautiful nature, very few people in the streets. Northern lights!! Not many places to eat or to go out to, but it wasn't a problem for us. There's also a big museum and a cultural center there, hotels, a souvenir shop and supermarkets, and generally many things specially for the tourists. There is apparently no public bus going between Inari and the Ivalo airport (only Inari and the Ivalo town), but it's possible to book a shuttle bus.Guest review byjosephschwarzGermany

The house was cordially a former sami-school, now renovated as a hotel. An electric sauna in the house, as well as a wood heated sauna on the lake are available, as well as bikes, kajaks and organised icefishing and snowmobile trips. We rented a car and drove from Rovaniemi to Inari in February. The roads were snowy but not closed, so we had no problems with transportation. Despite the extremely cold weather outside, the house was very warm and comfortable. The sauna inside made our stay even more enjoyable. Lake Inari, especially when frozen (all white winter wonderland) is INCREDIBLE. We couldn't believe our eyes and our luck - especially when we got our first glimpse at auroras right over the lake. The breakfast is excellent, the local pickled fish is something you seldom find at a hotel breakfast. The beach that is just below the hotel should be visited during sunset, it was very beautiful to see the sun set above lake Inari, and there's a rowboat at the beach as well.
